In squarebodies yes. Two 2.8s were available in the Celebrity starting in 1985 (I think), the MPFI and carbed.

And I knew you'd bring that up. I figured OP was concerned about trucks.

Now of course when you're talking trucks and some says first year for Vortec was 96. Uhhhhhhhhh NO it wasn't. Earleir than that...... in the V6.
