Would “horror of horrors” Ford T-55(?) bed carriage bolts and this style caged nut work on a Squarebody?

I need to pull the bed off my C10 to add a bolt in C notch. Trying to preplan for any factory bolts that end up spinning. The factory hardware is in overall great shape, but the bed floor shows normal farm use pitting.

Just cut/split the nuts for the bed bolts, then remove the factory bolts with no chance of spinning and rounding the square hole.

Clean up and reuse or replace at discretion.

You could spot weld the bolt heads but that makes them non serviceable. Not the best solution but it would work.

If you cut a notch across the head, a helper can use a large screwdriver to stop it from spinning when you remove the nut underneath. Once you get it a few turns loose you can clamp vice grips on the edge of the head and get a better grip. It will be harder to turn as the nut gets farther off, because the end bolt threads are full of dirt and muck.
