I had recently pulled my intake manifold off to a fresh coat of paint, and to cleaned everything up.

Today I finally got it all back together, and went to start it.. and my battery went bad.

Got the new battery in it, Cranks just fine sounds like it wants to start, but wasn’t getting anything. So I put a bit of gas in the carb and it started and right after it backfire and died. (engine is a 1994 5.7 350)

Any ideas what my issues could be?

Thinking that I may have installed the distributor wrong, could that be my only issue? Or would it be a vacuum leak that would have caused the backfire?

Probably distributor put in wrong. Off a tooth? Off 180?
Did you check the timing?
