What headlights do you guys recommend I was looking at these from LMC.

exampleThe Phillips units. Not cheap but VERY nice and bright.

I like them very much. Very good pattern, and pretty dang bright. Ive had no moisture issues. And they take a regular bulb. Made of aluminum I believe and glass. I don't have the halos though.

Do they plug right in or do you have to wire them in?

Do they plug right in or do you have to wire them in?
They come with conversion pigtails. Not the best quality but they haven't given me any issues. So yes they plug right in. May have to bend or cut the tabs on the back of the bucket to change bulbs if needed.

I vaguely remember having to repin a couple of wires on the conversion plugs.

I used Hella conversion lights on my '79. They have an H4 bulb and glass lenses that look OEM.
