Ok Gentlemen and all you fuggers who aren't !!!

Rather than start a whole new thread on a bit of trans carnage, I'll just add it right here in the Exploded 700r4 thread, since you'll be seeing this pic again in another thread. This is not a 700r4 failure. Its a Turbo 350 failure. 2nd most common failure of the Turbo 350. You usually need a little bit of horsepower to do this, and a mean 2nd gear too. Bad part is, when this breaks, no limping it home. You're done !!! Call a tow truck.

Horsepower and not using a hardened input shaft. The second most common failure of the Turbo 350 after tore up intermediate sprag and sprag race which is #1 failure. If you address these 2 issues with hardened parts, you can have a Turbo 350 very durable. Still not a durable as a Turbo 400 since this transmission does not have a Center Support system, but still OK for a mild street/strip vehicle or moderate abuse.

Hate when this happens !!! I didn't build this one, I promise. Its a stocker on a high performance car. If I recall and remember the story correct, this was done on a nitrous launch. Also very rare to see a 700r4 come apart like this.

1st, I know this is a 10year old thread, yes I am a new member and this is my 1st post. However, I was cruising google and this picture popped up.
It's my transmission, I did it during a rolling burnout leaving a friends house. I know it was in the 7-7500rpm range when it let
go. Trans had some mods but nothing crazy.

I signed up because I'm looking for a solid 91 2wd 2500 suburban and to comment on my picture.

Picture of it the next day when I pulled it out. I still haven't taken it apart but If I unbolt the pan it will all fall apart.

been there done that, broke 2 or 3 of input drums in my Camaro at the drag strip. the only other part that broke in that transmission was the spag , it let loose when the rear end grenaded and locked

Good ol' sunshell carnage... all mine just snap the snout off of the splines.... this is why you upgrade to 'the beast' sunshell.

Go look at direct drum explosions HAHAHAH

Then you'll understand the need for scatter shields in drag cars

Nice carnage! Looks like you are testing one of Newton's Laws of Motion:

An object at rest will stay at rest, and an object in motion will stay in motion at constant velocity, unless acted upon by an unbalanced force. Inertia is the tendency of an object to resist changes in its velocity: whether in motion or motionless.
