I just picked up a 91 2 wheel drive s10 blazer for 300 bucks.

It needed a fuel pump and I replaced the fuel tank while I was at it.

now it runs good I plan to use it for a work car it should get pretty good gas mileage 4.3 700r4.

I plan to clean it up and put some wheels on it maybe lower it a little and run it as a work car until the 4.3 gives up then maybe a tbi 350 swap

Should be good for 26 mpg or so on the highway. There's several easy things you can do to make them handle like a sports car.

You paid to much for it. But, being the nice guy I am, if you want, I think I can come up with what you have in it and I'll suffer the loss for you.

I have a 5.3 and a 4l80 waiting to find a home I have thought about putting it in this blazer. but I think it would be better in my barn door blazer or one of my many c10's

Or even a 5.3 but if you found a 4.8 it should be real cheap since noone really wants them. 5.3's are even getting cheap cuz they're so plentiful now and everyone is wanting 6.0's.

ya people get caught up in the bigger is better thing

I would be happy with a 4.8 they are tiny but still put out 310 horse that's more than enough for a little blazer. and it would probably get better mileage than the 4.3.

I'm certain it'll get better than the 4.3. But I've been told by only 2 people I know that run 4.8's in their GMT800's, they their mpg is the same as the guys with 5.3's. If there's not mpg benefit, may as well just go 5.3. They also said they really didn't notice a major power difference from light to light or getting on the freeway, but where they did notice the pussiness, was when they were towing something. Apparently the pep is there on the 4.8 but the torque isn't.

I towed this blazer home with a 5.3 in my 2007 crew cab half ton. it towed it ok but I was in second gear on most hills.

so the 5.3 is not really a good motor to tow with either.

I am building my 90 crew cab with a vortec 383 that will be my tow rig I don't tow anything very heavy.

and price difference is the biggest advantage of the 4.8. its basically like a 283 compared to a 327

I have a fast 79 Z28 and a couple other fast cars and a truck. I am more for drivability and economy for most of my drivers than power and speed

Yeah, those first gen Blazers can be fun and good drivers. They're great drivers and can return great milage in the right combination and still haul stuff. My 94 S10 2.2 4cyl 5 speed ECSB got 27 with a bed full of furniture and other stuff doing 70. It was still slow as hell even with a 4.10 rear.
