If someone thinks the front hanger, or maybe axle is crooked, (no one probably would even noticed had I not said anything), the hanger looks crooked because of its relation to the bumper. The bumper is crooked.

The driver tire looks like it's got crazy camber... Irs actually perpendicular in relation to the axle., I'm parked on uneven terrain. It's the passenger wheel... When I was putting the bushing in on the kingpin... It was giving me serious issues seating properly. I didn't noticed it until yesterday that it was crooked lol.

just felt it was necessary to defend my work LOL.

ANYWAY! It looks everything like I hoped, and in the other pic, you can see I got my sides wheel lights setup so I can see hkw I'm tracking, as well as the light bar.
Boy what a change.

Something wonky going on with the upper kingpin on that side.
My steering arm spring bore is the correct depth. The bushing just would not seat right on the kingpin, even though I had the keyway lined up. I just brushed it off. Didn't think anything of it.
Now it's readily obvious.
I'll be revisiting it when I tear it down again to setup the locker.

Just can't have anyone thinking I'm an incompetent boob LOL

Imho, skip the used master cylinder and get a new or remanufactured unit. They are cheap.

Only thing I'm unsure of is if a 1 ton Master cylinder will fit up.
I assume if the 89 1/2 ton will, a squarebody or gmt400 1 ton will?

It 'should', yeah.

If someone has a spare master cylinder from a 1 ton chilling around, can they give me the measurement of the snout that goes into the booster?

I'm wanting to see if I can make it work on my s10 before I commit.

Thanks guys.

More goodies came.
Now it's time to setup hydro assist, the rear Trac bars, and the locker.

Rear Trac bars partially made... I have to saw some off of both of them. Weld the other ends' bung on, and then I can attach them to the s10.

So, I cut the Dom to length, welded the other bung on, and set out to setup the Trac beams.
I cut the welds on the old shock tabs off the axle, then beat them off with a hammer and chisel, straightened them back up the best I could, and setup the rear shocks.

I used the factory rears to set the brackets correctly, but I think I'll need some shocks for a 4" lift on a s10.
Wanted to run 4" rear lift shocks front and rear, to make it easy to replace.
As you'll see, the axle'a shock brackets look a little wonky LOL.
Im not too too worried with it. They're just shocks.

I did get the Trac bars tacked to the axle and frame, so tomorrow I'll go ahead and cook those in nicely, and FINALLY be done with the rear axle... FOR GOOD!

From there, I'll go ahead and pull out the front axle, and begin setting up hydro assist and the locker....

Thinking I might just ditch that factory tie rod and replace it with Dom and heims as well.
Opinions?

I'm inclined to think the hydraulic ram might just bend that front tie rod right in half when it gets stressed on a right turn..

Trac bars and shock brackets all done and welded down solid. Rear axle is now bolted in for good!

(unless something happens) :manos:

Just doing the shocks and Trac bars made a big difference in the rear. Not so damn bouncy now!

Next up is the front axle, which includes pulling the steering box, axle and all BACK OUT!

(I didn't plan on doing this extra stuff for a while, but whatever.)

Im gonna setup hydraulic assist, the locker, and work up front shock brackets.

That'll be a little more involved... But whatever!
I also got new bushings for the front leafs, so I'll install those while I'm at it.

-also-
The front drivehaft now spins evidently in 4x4..... Weird.

But I guess I'll keep the s10 transfer case (for now)

I may change my mind. Lol

Front axle back out again.... Gonna tear it down, setup my locker, then reassemble.

Also, I have a 1 ton Master cylinder coming to the store... I plan on having quality braking, and hydro assist by the end of the weekend.
(can't take advantage of the locker until I have an actual front drivehaft)

Hopefully all will go as planned.

So, today was a pretty productive day.
Tore the axle down again, got the carrier out, pressed the old bearings off (I reused them, they seemed fine and its not a highway truck)

Cleaned up the open carrier real nice, took it to the shop and used the height stand and measured out my distances to the .001's.
(bearing surface to bearing surface)
(bearing surface to ring gear surface)

Measured that out on both carriers (old open carrier and new grizzly locker)

Being armed with that data, I was able to very easily set the preload and pinion to ring engagement.

Tapped the ring gear on the locker, torqued it all down tight, dropped the carrier in the axle, tapped it in with wood and a hammer, torqued the caps down and installed the new diff cover.

Easy peasy.

Also I got a 1 ton Master cylinder.

Tomorrow I'll take the steering box out, port it, then I can setup hydraulic assist!!

Things are going well
