How the hell should I know?
I've never heard what a AC pump on squarebody sounds like lol

Mine definitely makes noise ( A6 ) , but then again so does the one in the Camaro .

As long as it blows cold ...

Yeah, I can mentally kind of hear that and agree. The mechanic thought it was OK, and mine has been functioning fine now for almost 3 years of ownership ( Goldie ) , so ...

But, probably best to try to get a trained ear as if you just did all that work and then the compressor goes blooey and pumps **** thru the system ...

Weird. I have a factory HD radiator, by its size I believe it to be that of a big block cooler.
Trans cooler, oil cooler, as well as a decent length of power steering line that goes under the radiator I guess to let off heat from that too!

But no cool electric fan!!!!

I actually added it to mine. My truck had 3.73's, no Z82 trailer package, but a 454. Three of my prior squares had the fan, that's why I was aware of them.

Probably the guy that charged the AC for my dad. That is where it came from.
Must've had dookie fingers when he did the work.

I honestly have no idea where that **** comes from that gets trapped in the orifice tube.

Vince, late to the game here, but that debris is from the compressor. With system operating (R134a system) I like to see 30 psi on the low side and 150 psi on the high side. As a rule of thumb outlet duct temperature should be 20 degrees less than ambient when vehicle is stationary. Been a while since I performed R12 to R134a conversion, but seems that the 134 system charge is 75-80% of the R12 system capacity. Good luck

That's what I was gathering.

At 73 degrees yesterday, I was getting damn near 200 psi on the high side. Needs to be more like 125 psi at operating temp
Then when the truck got warm, the already high pressures increased, heat started building, then the truck started getting warm... Whole analysis went to hell.
I have to replace the clutch fan before I revisit this, following that, I suspect I may need to bleed off a little freon.


Low side was at 30. I'm fine there. I'm slightly overcharged and the worn out clutch fan isn't doing its job anymore.

Make sure that your condenser fins are clear of dirt and debris as well.
