Core Support Mounting

I am working on putting my core support (81 chevy c10) back on with new hardware. I seem to be bottoming out on threads as I am putting it back together. Since everything was rusted solid when I dismantled I have no way of knowing. Should the core support be fully tight and unmoveable with just the 2 bolts holding it, or does some support come with the rest of the body attached.
Wondering if I got the wrong bolts from LMC

5/16" bolts and 8mm are about the same size. They will thread into a nut partway and stop. Check for the correct match.

so my question is ,,,,will the core support be solid as a stand alone ? or will it be fully threaded and still have some play?

The core support needs to be bolted to all the front end parts to stand strong. The bolts should tighten fully.

with the rubber mounts installed you will still have some wobble until the fenders lock it all together.

I went to a shorter bolt, so my threads didnt bottom out seems to be the answer.

Just bolted mine back on,it will flex back and forth due to rubber mounts,dont lock up tight til wings are attached and dont overtighten rubber mounts as id needs rubbers to be flexable not stiff.

The rubber support mounts allow the frame to move under the radiator, to flex. The support bolts up tight to the fender forward attach points. You could look for some of the bolts from the original support and put them in a vise and hit them with a wire brush in a drill. The fender to radiator support bolts should have a little point on the end of the bolt, not blunt like regular bolt. You could look for some that came from the original support that are like that and just clean them up. They shouldn't be more than about 3/4" long.

When I was rebuilding my truck I took the truck body completely apart and took every bolt in the dismantlement process and wire brushed every bolt like I described, one of those round stiff wire brushes for rust removal. Not that mine were rusted but just to clean them up for repainting. Then repainted every bolt with a light coat of semi-gloss black paint.

appreciate the info. I think I was sent bolts that were too long. ran out of threads b4 it started to tighten up.

Bolts should tighten all the way, but core support is partly supported by front sheet metal, so it will be movable until that is all back on.
