Can anyone recommend a supplier for a precut chrome side molding kit or roll of molding for a 1987 Silverado long bed fleet side? The moldings currently on my truck are a couple years old and are already deteriorating. The thin chrome layer is separating and bubbling from the molding base. These moldings were on my truck when I bought it, so I don't know what supplier they came from. The quality is so poor that I do not want to go down that path again. I don't want to go through the work of replacing all this molding with poor quality material. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

A trick I have used in the past for removing them quickly and painlessly is use a piece of high lb fishing line and used it to cut the tape/adhesive from the paint. No nicks, gouges and if done right, no clean up. Just wax and grease remover the area and install the new ones.

Another point I will add, by the pre cut ones. It makes it so much easier.

And finally, another vote for LMC

I just used a roll from LMC. It would have been nice to have pre-cut but it would also be nice to be a millionaire. The roll worked as did my patience. I'm also starting on my second million as I've given up on the first...

LMC makes precut kits too. My set is going on three years without issue, but full disclosure, mine stayes in the garage. Make sure you edge buy the sealant for the ends. Without it, water gets in and ruins the trim.

Does anyone still make the black trims? I see the rolls online but never the 2 metal rear corner or rear center pieces.

I got mine from Route LA custom parts but I see that they’re sold out now. I imagine they’re probably the same kit that is made for LMC, high quality.

I used the 3M eraser wheel, adhesive remover, acetone etc. You won’t be able to get all the glue marks off likely, but that’s an obstacle blessing- you can use those as markers to make sure your trim is lined up as factory. As long as you can’t feel the glue on your fingertips it will be fine.

3M also makes an adhesion promoter that I used, and it has stuck on great.

Thanks to all of you that responded to this question. It looks like you all went the LMC route. Would any of you be willing to take a close-up photograph of a door forward cut edge of your chrome molding and post it here so I can compare the quality of LMC to what I currently have? Thank you very much in advance. I appreciate you all.

I am restoring my V3500 and it had the black trim. One bed corner was missing. I found two NOS ones on eBay. If you need the part numbers let me know.

The black trim, last I checked, was available on a roll.
