Getting started on returning decals to the (new)back window, and possibly some new additions. We'll see.

How did safelite do start to finish installing the window? Curious how they do with our older rigs.

I've heard both that the back seal and the front seal are a beeeech and also that both are easy as pie. The one and only time I attempted the windshield install with a fresh gasket was the last time. I'll let the pros do it forever more

I hear that back seal can be a beach.

Ha! Lol. Yes it is a beeaatch!
Here is how it went:
Appointment was a week late because of rain and they were so booked up that I could not drive in for an earlier appointment. The guy arrives at 10:15 for my 8:00AM-5:00PM window, so good start. He pops out of the van and we chat. He is down from Brooklyn helping in the Richmond area because Safelite is so busy and low staffed. He told me he was sure it should be relatively easy. He also starts telling me when he "heard 1980 whatever this is, I told them I would do it because I want the experience". Young guy. Then told me nobody else wanted to do it. The job is simple enough for the single pain because it's just rubber popping in on the metal lip all the way around the frame. Once the guy got the rubber gasket/seal around the glass he put the suction cups on and had me help him walk it over the bed to the frame. He got in and started to work a little. I wasn't going to be far during this so I occupied myself right by the operation in the garage putting together a baseball practice net for my son. I told him if he needed anything let me know. So shortly after that he tells me it's proving a little more difficult for him than he thought...so I help of-course because it's my baby and it will be one more thing to know about the truck. Totally different install than the original slider back that came off the truck. I hooked him up with cold water the whole time, 90 degrees that day. It sure was a serious PIA! I don't think I would ever attempt it alone, and if I wasn't here, I don't think the guy could have done it. I was literally on the top of the bed cover applying pressure the whole time with my knees across the top and as hard as I could muster for the corners and the bottom. It was difficult but a solid seal for sure. Lots of glass cleaner being sprayed by myself and the Safelite guy. He thought he left his larger hook tool so I offered to go get one for him from Advance around the corner while he talked to a supervisor, surprisingly, he was like"nah, well if you want to, ok". So, I did, and when I got back he found it after we opened one of the sets I got. When he was done and wrapping it up while I helped him stay organized getting all his stuff together. I was telling him I hope this didn't set him back too much and I hoped the rest of his installs were easier. He told me he had 3 AM appts. and 2 PM appts. and this was his 2nd AM. It was about 1:20 at this point. I was like well maybe that's why my e-mail says 8AM to 5PM. He says" Nah yours is 8 to 12". I said not what my e-mail says. He then rushes to his clipboard and reads it and didn't realize he mixed up 2nd and 3rd jobs. I was like well I'm glad you got my window and he said "honestly I'm really glad I got this out of the way now". Lol!

So I'm sure he was behind after that. It was only because it was an older vehicle most techs don't have experience with and I was honestly expecting it to be this way after the convos with the rep and all.

The body shop that did mine (paint) was doing another squarebody back glass seal and the owner was super-super agitated with the Chinese or whatever aftermarket seal that the owner supplied, vendor unknown but I have a hunch.

I installed my new cold air intake today.

:) In reality, I am buying the parts to make a cold air intake and realized a dryer vent tube was the perfect thing to get an idea of the amount of silicone tubing I needed to order.

@CountKrunk Count, thanks for editing!

Obviously I couldn't wait to tell the long winded (worded) story.
