I waited on mine for almost 7 months, was nerve wracking but the end result was stunning, and wait was worth it!
When i was 15 I got my first square. It was a 75 GMC 3/4 ton longbed for 500 bucks. Me and my dad replaced everything but cab and hood because it was rusted to ****. The bed looked like Swiss cheese. You could see the street through the bottom of it. It was summer time and right before school started he sent it to his buddies paint shop. It was in there for 10 weeks.

I was beside myself waiting for it to come back. I was telling my friends about it. They started calling me a liar and that I didn't have a truck at all. Finally got it back and they did a great job on paint and interior.

After about a week or two of driving it to school, I came out to go home and some d!ck keyed it all the way down the right side from bumper to bumper. I was so pissed!

After the OBD1 TBI torx adjust to get the idle down the truck will take a long crank on ignition before turning over but then will run great. After first ignition and it has been driving it cranks up normal. It idles high for about 3 or 4 seconds then drops down to a good sounding idle, and immediately the service engine light comes on.
17 second clip. You can hear it then see the light.

I am currently out of town but wanted to post this and get some feedback. I am planning to get the paper clip back in to OBD1 and adjust more when back with the truck either tomorrow or Sunday afternoon.

Impatient as usual, so I went for it since I really want to get this back together because I have parts spilled all around my property. I still need to paint a little under the hood so I am leaving the paper until that’s completed. I had this paint leftover from the z28 project 30 years ago. This blue looked awesome on that car. The blue stripes look okay for my 20 footer.

There are NGK plugs that are shorter than those "header" plugs for a small block anyhow, should be the same for a big block I'd think.

Last time I bought any, there were Accel shorty plugs and standard length plugs too. I've run a few sets of the Accel 576S plugs and they are definitely a short plug. No performance or durability complaints from me, they work well with a GM HEI.

Ok got the tach hooked up and mocked up to the steering column with zip ties. Lol

Ok now I need some ideas on the mount to the steering column. Hence the zip ties. I would use a hose clamp but the box around the turn signal handle prevents that.

Can I run a self tapping screw on that hole into the column? I was afraid I might hit something. Of course I won't use a long one but, I was thinking of using some double sided tape I have that is super good. Then run a screw in it to add extra hold power. Or if not maybe tape and zip ties. Doesn't have to be perfect just not Jerry rigged. Any ideas would be appreciated. Y'all might think of something I'm not.

Man I'm getting old. Doing this i got muscle cramps in my back, hip and legs. Burned my forearm on the heat gun too. Haha I had to stop a couple of times to let the cramp go away. Couple of times I was in the right spot and it was so bad I had to get outta that position and let it go away. Lol

But I got it done! :peace:
