And since it's the internet and just reading text, I'm not saying you are wrong about anything or your experiences, it's just a good discussion. Not trying to start an argument at all, lol.

The truck in question is a (mild?) small block and a 2 wheeler though. So we are probably over-analizing.

If you have the right tires and right treatment if needed, a squarebody doesn't need much to hook. Control the axle wrap and send it. JMiller doesn't come here very often or you could ask him. Maybe ask @Mark Jones what he's done to his. It won't take much.

That hasn't been my experience with Camaros, Novas and S10's. Traction has been improved with street tires and stock or mild engines where wheel hop wasn't even a problem to begin with.

Obviously with some real power, the little street tires are just going to get blown off anyway.

Actually I thought of a good example. The old Southside traction bars for the 3rd gen Camaro. Those are are torque arm cars and actually hook pretty good to start off with. But those traction bars were set up to replace the torque arm and the lower control arms, making them similar in function to a ladder bar setup with coilovers (as opposed to leaf springs and a shackle mount on the ladder bar). Or similar to a leaf spring style traction bar, but without the slop of a floating snubber. But anyway, they worked really good. There have been a lot of high power cars that can hook and book with smallish tires and no tubs.

This conversation makes me miss the 70's.... and N50 series tires.

Ohhh yeah, I remember the N50-15's back in the days of sky jackers and spring lift kits in the back. Then technology happened and it's all about tuckin' the tire and keepin' it level.

Saw this on a truck in AZ pics are a bit dark but you can see he moved the springs inboard on the frame and then widened the wheel tubs to fit Mickey’s inside the fenders. Would probably fit a 14”x32” slick. That should be some traction.

This was enough for what all I used my truck for, put on when I rebuilt my truck back in '95. I just rebushed them last Summer. These are old Superlift bars. They don't make these anymore. Everything has gone 4-link.

I cleaned them up and repainted them. Put in all new bolts, washers, nylok nuts. The look good now.
