Which wire do I need to tap into?

An spdt relay is not capable of controlling ignition and starter it can control 1 or the other but not both.The deal on top of the column you have pictured is the actual ignition switch. You can intercept your starter wire right there.I have no idea why he's recommending a relay and a switch instead of just a good switch, hopefully he will explain it.

I was thinking the same thing, there has got to be something from the ignition switch that I could tap into. I was thinking it was the yellow wire, but the yellow wire is the one hanging free under the dash not hooked to anything...

Should be a purple or yellow wire coming out of that switch which engages the starter ground a test light probe the purple or yellow engage the starter the light should light only when you engage the starter. That's your wire. Cut it put a switch on it and starter will only engage when you trip the switch.I personally would not use a relay on it. Just read what you wrote while was writing see if there is yellow or purple at the switch, I do not have a wiring diaghram for your truck. I'm flying by the seat of my pants on the colors.

That’s the problem, those yellow and purple wires are not connected to the neutral safety switch. They are hanging under the dash and the truck functions perfectly... someone before me stripped the cab out to put all new floors and a front cowl. When they put it back together, they left the neutral safety unhooked among many other things lol. Long story short, the yellow and purple are dead end wires with no jump wires...

Just dropped the column, there is nothing going on with any jumper wires. All the wires go down the harness.

Your top pic here that is the ignition switch there will be 1 wire coming off off it that will only light the test light with the starter engaged probably purple or yellow. I don't think your truck has an electrical neutral safety switch I think the design of the column is the neutral safety switch.

Looks like 8 wires from the ignition switch?? 2 red, 2 orange 1 pink, 1 DK BWN/Black, 1 Brown w/ white stripe, 1 Yellow (the wire going to nothing).

That's my trucks ignition switch compare my wires to yours. What is where my purple is?

The goal is to find this neutral safety switch or so I can tie a kill switch into the wire. I can’t start the truck in gear which tells me there is some type of safety. I will probably end up doing what Bextreme04 suggested since I can’t find the safety switch that is hidden somewhere in the truck.

Newer trucks have a neutral safety switch on the transmission linkage right where the shift rod enters the trans. That could be where the safety switch is now. Not correct for your year, but you never know what has been changed out.

I already checked the side of the transmission, I figured it could quite possibly have one on the drivers side, but nothing.

I just looked at his pics better, he has a neutral safety switch. It has been bypassed. I'm thinking the pulled the plug off the ns switch and pulled the wire from the starter ignition switch pigtail and moved the ns wire there, which would be a clean way of doing it.

What???? Where is this dang thing???? I’ve been looking wayyy too long haha.
