Hello,

I just purchased a 1991 GMC Suburban and am looking into upgrades and I want to put a grille guard on the truck. Ranch Hand has this one listed on their website as one that fits this truck but the picture is clearly of the later body style. Does anyone know if this model actually fits? If not, do you recommend one made by a different manufacturer?

Thanks,
That grille guard is for a GMT400 truck or SUV. They were made concurrently with certain later squares. I can recommend one far cheaper. It's not as pretty and streamlined as that one, but it's a CUCV guard that you see on the military square trucks and Blazers, and it'll definitely get the job done.

I will have to kick around the idea before I decide which one I want. I really want something that can hold a winch but I cant seem to find any of the old style winch bumpers for sale anywhere.

Where this attaches to the bumper would it be strong enough to weld a winch plate and mount my old Warn 8274?

Ehh, I wouldn't just to protect the integrity of your investment. That just seems like a very indirect way to accomplish installing your winch. I think if you want to do this right you're gonna have to find a winch bumper with a built in brush guard or invest in a CUCV bumper assembly with the tow hook protrusions. That same Hillbilly Wizard site has it. People do winches on the CUCVs that way. You could fab your winch plate sitting down, and it would probably look better and be more stable. Like so...

And it seems to be cheaper than your other forefront option. Look around where you live for a CUCV to rob parts off and maybe you can bypass ordering at least one thing online.
