I just found out today that my suburban had factory quad shocks(never even thought to look if it did ha) Does anyone have a picture of the lower bracket on the axle, I have the upper mounts still there untouched, but it looks the lower brackets got butchered and welded. Id like to have them on there I know they don't really make a difference but I like the look of two shocks in the fender well.

There were no lower brackets, it was just a longer bolt and the one shock piggybacked off the other.

That's what I thought, but looking at it I wasn't sure how the second one would lineup.

Thanks bucket!

i bought the dual shock kit and was told I don't need it? I figured if it was a option on some GM trucks then why not right? Anyway I will be welding the lower shock mounts to my front axle in a couple of days and then I'll decide if I want to use the duals or not. I'm pretty sure I'd have to move my break lines in order to drill the hole needed to install the new bracket................FUN!!!!!!!

My K10, which I am upgrading to K20, has factory quad shocks on the front. Today I will be swapping out the original front axle assembly, in favor of an axle which has the same gear ratio as the recently installed 14 bolt rear.
The shock brackets (which are welded to the axle housing) are exactly the same for 2-shock and 4-shock installs. The one shock fits in the bracket as normal, the 2nd shock mounts off to the side via a long mounting bolt, as mentioned by bucket. Attached is a recon photo I took in February (front axle, drivers side, looking from the front to the rear...

Took some more photos of the Quad Shock arrangement, as I was swapping the font axle out today... The Quad Shock fits right up to a standard axle housing, just uses a long bolt and a "1/4" Spacer thingy" between the two shocks.

I had a feeling there had to be some kind of spacer between them.

Just letting you guys know I have ran a lot of dual shock setups on my square's and if you are lifted and wheel off road a lot I have destroy'ed all of the lower shock mount's when running duals. If you are mostly on the street and light off road you will be fine , (just giving you the heads up).

I always use channel , (the same width of the skock bushing) and weld that to the housing in the stock location and gusset it on both sides , then you bolt the shocks in line of each other , never a twisted or broke mount again.

I will try and snap a pic if you guy's are interested and its not hard to do if you can weld.

Mine seem to be holding up fine, although there has been a bit of rust color coming from the lower mounts, indicating worn bolt holes.

Oh, my aftermarket shocks for the quad shock setup came with a longer bushing sleeve to eliminate the spacer.

Just the one that needed it. I think it was the longer shock.

One of the shocks is longer too? The one closest to the frame Im guessing
