It doesn't take much just a little movement from a crack in the frame translates to a lot of movement in the steering! Throw in a couple bad bushings and death wobble rears it's ugly head.
I am finding this out. It didn't drive bad at all I am really surprised and will think differently if I have to do this again on another truck.

I had to do it to mine! Putting larger tires puts a strain everything.

Got the fuel tank stuffed back up in the truck this morning before the wife woke up. Gotta bolt the filler neck in and hook the grounds up and will be good there. Need to swap the fuel pump to the 3 line one. And spin motor up on top dead and stab the distributor.

Packed up the old suspension goodies that didn’t work out and took inventory of the new goodies. 2026 should be a good year for the square :rockit:

She’s lookin’ kinda sad right now. Only driven it twice since May. I’m having big time withdrawals

Because one can never have enough clamps holding things together.

I hope to have this substantially complete so we can start installing the floor tomorrow.

What are y'all putting on the brake booster support bracket before welding it to the firewall? Is weldable primer good enough?

Popped the diff cover off this morning and cleaned it up a bit… it’s not paint clean by any means on the outside. Caked in oil because someone decided to just seal it with silicone….. ffs….

Did verify I have 3.42 gears. Was told 2.73, so happy to find 3.42. Oil was clean so hadn’t been in there long but new oils always good. Think I will need to pull pinion gear out at some point and replace that seal. But will have to get to that later.

Went ahead and replaced the EGR vacuum solenoid after reading in the Driveability and Emissions manual that the filter in these needs to be replaced every 30,000 miles. A few days ago I put on a new AC Delco EGR valve and the truck performed better. No AC Delco vacuum solenoids that I can find so I went with the NAPA version. The solenoid that was just on the truck:

I have taken it on a few trips out of the neighborhood, on the freeway, and back to run the range of speeds.
It ran great in warmer weather after the EGR replacement a couple days ago and today even in 38° after the solenoid replacement.
