Battery with truck off. I gave it a test run around the neighborhood and waited about ten minutes before checking for battery draw.

New... to me. 16" wheels for the 79 Royal Princess. $300 for wheels & tires. The wheels will need a little polish, but the tires are holding air, unlike the ones that are on it currently. They're good enough... for now.

My son and his teammate wanted to shoot hoops in the driveway before their game in an hour, So my wife and I moved cars. While I was in the truck I took it around the neighborhood and just like this morning, a good solid drive, no rough riding.
I'll take it for now and will post flashlight lit multimeter results on the alternator in AC mode later this evening. We have to go pick up Nana to get her to the ball game, lol. But seriously.

Also keep the meter in the glove box check the read DC volts and AC volts again if it messes up again in case it's an intermittent

Tomorrow when the sun comes up, I will go back with the multimeter and test AC on alternator.
I’m not sure what is lost in the translation but you have a multi meter and you keep doing other weird tests. Use a light bulb use your multimeter whatever just see if there’s a draw when the vehicle is not running. And isolate it (likely) to the alternator diodes/rectifier (hopefully).

Am I reading that right, your meter neg is plugged into the high side so .02A draw or 200mA? If the math is correct that’s a lot of draw.

You are not in AC volts mode

I am further educating myself on the digital multimeter. Obviously something has been lost in translation via text here. I have read and re-read these posts several times and will come back when proper technique is executed.

These days, I just research whatever it is that I want to buy on whichever company's website. Then I go into the store and show the counter person the screenshot I took of the part, including the part # and the statement that they have it in stock.
I do that too! Cuts the BS time. Sweet and to the point!

I replied before seeing your amp draw test which looks proper.
If you’re testing for AC ripple you need to be on AC setting like Rick said.
But you didn’t answer my question. Is the .02 reading 200mA? And might be wrong and it’s only 20mA now that I look at it. What’s it read on the mA setting (changing the -plug in on your meter)
If it’s 20mA that isn’t horrible but I’d still expect it to be less on an old dumb vehicle like a square. Even if it’s TBI.
I’m not experienced enough to tell you what a bad alt diode range would read although I may have the same scenario and I’m at about 40mA just haven’t isolated it to the 2 likely sources. 1 being a bad alternator like yours. Still charges but bad rectifier. Or my janky Scamazon headlight relay kit
