That process netted me about 1", all at the coupler to lower shaft joint.
I was unable to make the lower shaft assy telescope any.

I think I will need to remove the lower shaft in order to apply more direct pressure. I'm pretty sure that once I shorten that shaft length, the column will move the 2" that I seek........

I like the idea of a “free” inch. What did you have to do with the mounting bolts under the instrument cluster?

That's the problem.....
I removed the 4 bolts holding the column to the bracket, but, as I could not move the column2", the upper nuts
on the column will not align with the lower holes in the bracket.
As the silver slugs are slotted in the bracket, I can move them up an inch and re-attach, but I am uncertain as to
if that will be secure enough..........

Ididit via squarebody syndicate sells a shorter column. Additionally, there are a few shops across the country that will shorten a stock column.
The Squarebody Syndicate column made by Ididit is very nice, but about $1800 all in, including shipping and any extras (cruise control stalk etc). There is a guy in NW Arkansas called Stumpy's Columns that will sell you a complete shortened used column to you specs that has been completely rebuilt for about half that or less, and about one quarter of that price if you provide him your old column to cut down and rebuild.

This is definitely my next upgrade

Or you can just shorten your own, install an S10 column or relocate your existing column, all of those options are cheap. I'd have made or modified my mount by now . Even as simple as an exhaust clamp clamping a plate to the column and drilling the plate for the factory mounting bolts

I was just curious how well it sat atop of the humps for the tanks....
Perfect. i found a wrecked 1993 GMC Sierra Classic (years back) and cut the OEM matching material off the door panels. I used that material to replace the 1983 Silverado door panel carpet inserts. Really pulled my interior together...

Ok here are the 87 c10 and 93 s10 blazer columns side by side. Talked to one of the buddies who did it and he said the only mods necessary are to move the mounts one set of holes toward the wheel on the s10 column and slight trimming of the sleeve, as the mount being moved will require it.

A few parts are missing from the s10 column but the firewall ends are aligned which puts the neutral safety switches in line. You can see the difference in the mounts which requires moving it a set of holes. Can also see the length difference.
This certainly seems intriguing to me. All my local junkyards are crawling with late 80s/early 90s S10s, so I could get a column pretty easily.
But what about the actual functions of the S10 column? The turn signal, hazard button, brights, etc. Surely that isn't plug and play with the C10 connectors, right?
Do you have to cut the all the S10 wiring out and somehow work the C10 wiring in and then attach all the C10 harness connectors and such?
