It double posted that last one.
So I present my vintage flashlight issues as my wife calls them.

I do a lot of cooking and baking and for skillet work i always use my old Griswold #9 cast iron skillet. This skillet permanently resides on the stove top and is used most days. The wife knows to not move it or try to wash it or put it in the dishwasher. Properly seasoned its relatively non-stick and is just a wonderful piece of cookware.

Found this at a local antique shop a couple weeks ago. I initially grabbed it for my GF's brother cuz he has an '02 Viper. A couple days later I was looking closer at it and saw all the other stuff in the top corners, the Bill Thomas Cheetah, the Daytona Coupe, the Chaterham/Lotus 7 and the Cunningham. Then in the bottom corner, it had the artist's signature from '91. From the little info I can find, this seems to be a pre-production dealer advertisement for the initial release of these cars! Her brother wouldn't appreciate the history/inspiration those old race cars had on the development of the Viper and since I grew up around road racing and am a huge history buff, I think I'll just keep this one and re-frame it lol. I paid $42 for it and the other 1 I found had sold for $200 like 8 years ago

I have a cast iron, wood stove top waffle maker. Had never seen one, ever. Bought it on the spot. I will dig it out for pics.

So I want to thank you guys. It took me a couple days to noodle out the last place I had seen said waffle maker. Got it! Loft in my wood shop. I think the last time I was up there and poking around was 20 years ago? Anyway I found the waffle contraption. My antique hand saw collection. My piston pump collection. A hood ornament for a 50's olds. The frame for the boat baby cradle I made for my sister, and a fire truck peddle car. I think about this stuff as my 401K cash slush fund. lol anyway thanks for making me go up there.

Saw your photos and realized I have one very similar that my father gave me years ago. Where would it be??? In the kitchen of course, buried under baking sheets. Unlike the Griswold skillet that I use most days, I have never used this. If my dad used this I have no memory of that.

One last piece of cast iron history. Antique Griswold Dutch Oven with Trivet. The Trivet sits in bottom of pot if you’re cooking a roast or similar dish and want to keep it off the very bottom of the pot.

Making a pot of Moms Chili, the recipe for which is stored under security conditions similar to the Coke and KFC recipes, lmao.

And Yes, like any other fine Chili, Moms Chili has beans. :p

More auction stuff lol. The two little signs on the left have raised letters, the stuff on the left side of the big sign was dirt.

Nice finds!
Last Chance Garage seems like something I've seen in the "aftermarket" like in an antique shop. Willys service one looks authentic. Globe one looks like a repro too, the lettering just looks "off". It's hard to describe, but lettering and typeface/font used on something like this, if it's original artwork, has a different appearance to it. Lettering used to be laid out and drawn/painted by hand, and I've noticed that many times when a sign is reproduced, to get around a copyright, something will be changed. The styles end up not "meshing" or being cohesive with the overall design and pattern....
Many decades ago, my parents had a big vintage automotive sign collection. I grew up looking at these, and looking at other vintage signs, logos and ads, and I studied them. Lettering has been a hobby/interest of mine for most of my life, and I used to make, draw and lay out all the signs and flyers for our auto parts store. Also have drawn up and made several posters for friends with bands.... One of the signs we had, was a huge GMC parts and service sign that would have hung from the front of a dealer shop, in the 1940s-50s. The basic design is available in a smaller reproduction (think about the tin signs you see at Hobby Lobby or an antique shop, or in mass quantities from a swap meet vendor) but they changed the typefaces and it doesn't look "right". The letter styles are more modern than the original GMC logos and artwork/layout.

I don't have any really cool stuff I found anymore, either thew it out to sold it off. One cool thing I bought at an estate sale was a dynamite plunger box from the early 1900's, the thing that sets the electrical charge for dynamite. I sold it on Ebay years ago.

I needed pictures for my office and didn't want to spend any real money for junk at the home store. I ended up framing old magazine automobile advertisements I found on Ebay. The '59 Cadillac one is an actual sales brochure from a dealer that has all the options and different models. I always considered those cars art especially compared with what is built today.

I'm not picky lol. I assumed no one would produce raised letter signs anymore. The back of them look older, not the same type of metal as the repro'd signs. Maybe not old old, but a little old. Doesn't matter to me! I think I paid $20 for all 3 little ones. $15 or $20 on the interstate sign
