Your favorite old car/truck that you regret selling!

This was 1 one of my favorites. 65 Suburban Carryall, with the Z62 Chrome option. I was 3rd owner. My dad bought it in Scottsdale on his mail route in 1976. I bought it from him in 1993. It's now in Tucson in primer that I put on it long after this photo was taken, and lowered. It came from the factory with a 292 L6, and a Power glide. I ended up putting a complete 283 from a 63 Biscayne in it, and a friend installed a TH350, and a 72 tilt column. I switched to front disc brakes from Master Power Brakes, and added GM Rally wheels which I painted the same green as the body. My 2nd favorite was a 65 Chevy II Nova 4 door sedan, all original. As with the burb, I was 3rd owner. It was bought new in Benson, Az at Benson Auto Company on 2-25-65. Sold it to a guy from North Las Vegas in 2014 to pay rent and bills. It had a 194cuin 6, and 3 on the tree. The Nova was just like the one in the add, same color, but had the little poverty caps like the blue one.

Do you by chance still have the auto column from your old Suburban? How easy was the swap to the '72 tilt column?

I would have liked to have kept this one.
But we just had the second kid and needed the $2000 I sold it for back in 2005.
Now in the same condition it is a $10k driver.

I bought it for $1400 from a buddy that built it for his friend.
It is a 1972 Rally Nova that was pulled from the berry bushes and mildly built for track duty to start with.

The friend had a nervous breakdown, so no more drag racing.

They were "big" back in the early 2000's....

I sold it to a 15 year old kid at the time riding by my house on his BMX.
He knocked on the door and asked my wife if it was for sale and she said let me call my husband.
Ryan still owns the car and it is a dedicated strip car now.
He went to the championship races down in Las Vegas a couple years ago where this was taken.

Yup.
Just a plain black Nova now.
I really liked the green with the rally stripe and patina.

I bought a 72 Rally Nova in 82. But mine was red with white rally stripes. Still had the matching rally floor mats. Was in really good shape. Got it from an old hot rodder for $600.00. Sigh.......

I don't have anything from it sorry. I didn't do the swap. A friend did it but I believe it was easy. The ignition switch was on the dash through 72, and the wiring was probably pretty similar. The swap was done in the early 2000's

I made a career out of it. Spent time in Texas of course , Illinois Chanute AFB tech school, Hill AFB Utah F-4 Autopilot tech. F-16 Flight controls tech, Kunsan AFB Korea, Hahn AFB Germany, Luke AFB AZ, Mountain Home AFB. Retired @ E-7 Msgt. Had a good time, missed all the desert stuff. Would do it again if needed.

Stumbled across some Polaroids of my very first car when I was 15, wish I still had it. It was a '79 Chevy Malibu Classic, 267cu in small block, T350, god knows what kinda tall rear gear in it, prob a 2.41 or something. Dark blue, light blue interior with a bench and roll up windows.

My grandparent's neighbor had had this car and a matching '79 Elco sitting side by side in the tree row for probably 10+yrs. They offered me my pick of the two for $475. I decided on the Malibu, we pulled it over to my grandpa's driveway and went to the parts store. Fluids, belts, plugs, wires, rotor button/etc and a few hours later, we were driving it! Drove it the 1.5hrs home without a hiccup, it rode great.

I wire wheeled and painted the whole bottom of the car (it was a dirt road dog all it's life but totally rust free underneath), bought 2" drop springs all around, shocks, rebuilt the suspension, found a whole black interior the next town over and swapped it in, bought some 1st gen 300ZX seats and we fabbed those in. We started stripping it for paint and when we pulled the glass out, the driver's quarter glass revealed a 4" long by 2" tall hole where the seal had given up and let the flange rust away. We gave up on the car after that, it was "rusty". Can you believe it? especially considering where I work now?? Parked it under the deck at mom and dad's house, got an IROC Camaro and it just sat under a tarp. Sold it for $800 at the Super Chevy show a couple years later.

She's a square and thought it looked like nail polish. She like boring colors on cars, mine are the ones that are brightly colored, except the GT350. Its pretty boring in white with blue stripes.

That's me too, everything I've ever owned is a bright color other than one SUV when I was married. My GF likes bright colors too other than white, I love bright white and she hates it cuz she says it looks like a work truck lol
