Your favorite old car/truck that you regret selling!

I regret selling a few; 63 Nova, 62 & 64 Impalas - all 2-door hard tops. But the one that still breaks my heart to this day is the 64 Nova SS that my brother let me buy from him. Far from a perfect car, but had good bones and was still fairly sharp!

He had the car when we were in high school, and it was practically a family member. When you saw old friends, they’d ask “how’s your brother, how’s your mom doing, how’s the Nova”?

Unfortunately, my ex-MIL was making hell for me during/after my divorce from her daughter, due to me gaining custody of my 2 y/o son, over her daughter. She held a promissory note that I’d foolishly signed (during our separation, doh!) and had taken me to court for the money, plus late fees, interest, and attorney/court costs. Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned, and all that.

The Nova was the only thing I owned worth some money, and I’d since remarried, so an immediate blended family of 5, plus one on the way! All this on just my income, so the Nova had to go.

I’m still in a bit of contact with the current owner, who said the car has had some work done, but is still in pieces. He said I could buy it, but it’s still financially out of reach for me. He bought it, and conditionally gave it to an employee of his, but now retains ownership. If I ever win the lottery…..

My first and only 'new' car - got it in March of 1984. Was in college and laid off so sold it in 1991. Bought it back 10 yrs to the day in 2001. Had it stored at my Dads - then he passed away unexpectedly and I lost storage, so sold it again to a guy in Dayton. I run the VIN once a year. It was titled for 4 yrs with no ODO change. Doesn't show salvage or scrap - just untitled. Hope its in a barn waiting to be found. Would try to get it back for good if it still exists. I bet I have 1,000 pics of it. lol

'87 Buick Grand National, nice low mile car. Minor mods, ran 12.3's at the strip. Sold it when my Mom fell ill.
'98 Z28 convertible, LS1, 6spd, black, tan interior, chrome wheels. This car used to get 31 mpg running back and forth from Austin to Dallas and ran 13.2's at the strip. Awesome daily driver. Worked out a deal with one of my buddies back east. He still has it, sits in his garage 15 years later.

love those turbo regals! I won't sell my 87 GN making it a GNX. I do regret selling a 79 kawasaki Z1R TC turbo charged

Don't have any I regret selling but one that I wish was still around as it was totaled.

I bought a 64 Impala SS 409 4 speed car for $4500 my senior year (96) was white with red interior, all original never restored or repainted, from a friend of the family's grandfather. Was not running and had sat for no idea how long in the garage and needed the entire fuel system repaired/replaced as it was full of old fuel and varnish and a lot of other basic maintenance from sitting around. Got it drivable and drove it for about a year.

Set of highways crossed over each other near where I lived at the time with a light, I had the green and as I went thru a tri axle dump loaded with gravel blew thru and took the entire front end off of the car. I was lucky he hit at the front wheel and not any farther rearward.

I had pics of it before and after the crash on the wrecker with the engine and trans in the trunk and pieces of the front clip inside and strapped to the roof of the car as it was hauled away. Unfortunately, cell phones were barely a thing at that time let alone ones with cameras and internet, so pics were lost to time and a lot of moving etc.

The first "car" I bought was a 1949 Jeep CJ-2A was right after high school graduation. Wish I had a pic but I don't. I used the $400 I got for gift money. It was a serious rattle trap but ran good and went almost 55 mph, almost. Anyway, had to sell it at the end of the summer to pay for college expenses, even made a couple hundred in profit. After I flunked out, drove my Dad's 65 3/4 ton Chevy pickup with a mighty 292 and a 4 speed. That is until I wrecked it.

I ended up buying a used '79 CJ-5, 258, 4 speed, bare bones Jeep in 1982. Got some Armstrong Tru-Tracs and better wheels, and drove it for 7 years until having decided to return to college, had to sell it to fund that. Bought a totally beat '65 Chevy Suburban, 283, 4-speed for $300 to get through until graduation. Wish I had a pic of that.

I regret selling the '79, but I am way more happy with my current K20 Suburban. Anyway, here is the '79 CJ-5...

Got a 77 but I haven’t sold it. Don’t plan on it. Have had it kicking around for 20 years now.
Yours looked mich nicer. This one is still in 1974 paint

Just loaded it up and hauled it to the new house today. And wouldn’t ya know the brakes broke when I took it for a drive. One front brake just quit working after half way thru driving it around to get some heat innit after it got soaked in the trip over and warshed off!

I'm not sure of the exact number, but there are enough little buckets that he needs the Burbs and the passenger vans.....

My first pick up- 1972 Ford F-100. 302 with 3 on the tree. Bought it from my stepdad in 1976. Wish I still had it. Picture of it after he bought it new, and one of it in 1978 with mom and me. Already starting to rust out from saltwater in Sitka. Parked on oceanside of trailer, boat launching and salted roads did it in.

Yeah, that's why I have so much stuff now. I sold off too many cars and trucks and regretted several of them. So I just decided to quit selling stuff that I really liked, lol.

My green/beige Suburban was the final nail in the coffin. I missed it right away. For a couple years I tried to buy it back, but the guy wouldn't sell. So now I just keep everything.
