87 3/4 ton suburban
front axle corp.10 bolt probably 3:73 gears
rear i would say semi floter 14 bolt light duty 3:73 gears

look at the rear axle where the wheel bolts on if you see a bolted in axle in the center of the wheel its a full floater if no bolt on flange its a semi floater

semi floater 9.5'' ring gear
full floater 10.5'' ring gear

Take a look in your glove box for a label or something if its not there maybe its on the fender well it should have the axle codes with gear ratios but yeah the fronts were the same as the 1/2 ton just 8 lug instead of 6 the rears were 14 bolt semi floaters that sticker in the glove box if its still there is the build list from the factory it lists all the equipment that came on the truck

Hopefully it's 4.10's for 38's. The 14b either the SF or FF will hold up fine with 4.10's. The front 10b SHOULD hold up with 4.10 with light to light moderate wheeling. NO, the 10bolt likely won't hold up to severe moderate or severe wheeling with 38's.

BTW, it is possible to have Full Floater Rear axle in an 87 too. It's just not standard equipment. I think it's the heavy duty suspension RPO that will include the Full Floater. Maybe it's the trailering package. Not certain on that. I've had an 84 and an 85 C20, both with 9.5 Semi Floaters, and an 86 and 88 Burb C20's both with Full Floater but they were both optioned with Heavy Duty Suspension, Heavy Duty Cooling, and one was with Trailering IIRC.

Whatever you're talking about, I'm exempt. It was 4am when I posted that, and wasn't awake so I can't be held accountable.

But, I get it. We're just having a bit of generational gap is all. Back when I was growing up it was important to NEVER miss a period. Now days, the only times it's not OK to miss a period is when it's your last booty call and she missed her period.

Are you meaning the drop arm? Unless you're doing a lift kit I don't think anything is needed done to the steering as of yet.

He seems to be determined to run 38's (mall crawler alert) so it's gonna have to go up.

Yeah we're all willing to give our opinions and advice Michael, but you probably need to be a bit more specific so we know what we're dealing with. Pretend that we haven't seen your truck or know it's current status as far as lift, tires, mods etc and what all mods you intend to do at the same time. And this bracket you refer to? Is that the steering arm?
