What's a fair price??

Question...on a different board a guy has offered to sell me (without me asking) a Corsa catback exhaust system (stainless steel part no 14246) that will fit my Burb. When I asked further questions he PMed me and all he said was 'make me an offer'. Now, brand new this system costs anywhere between $750 and $1k depending on where you buy it and this one has about 20k miles on it. Considering it's stainless steel and will last forever what do you guys think would be a fair price?

When people say "Make me an offer" I tend to respond with "I offer you a dollar, now what do you want for it?"

I may offer him $250 shipped for it and see what he says. He's from Florida so I'm not sure how much it'll be to ship it. Him saying 'make me an offer' makes me think he really wants to get rid of it so maybe that's even a little steep for a first offer

When I go to buy something, I ask "why are you getting rid of it?" knowing they wont answer honestly (usually). Kinda like women, if you see one you like and then find out she has 6 ex-husbands, you have to conclude it might not be the fault of all 6 of the other guys. Besides, with this exhaust, something tells me he's gonna think he's got gold. I would let him be pissed off and cussing the next guy who offers him $200 for his used exhaust, which for some reason he's not happy with and wanting to unload it.

Yeah, I've asked him early this morning why he's selling it anyway. It came off his wife's Burb so it could be that she didn't like it. We shall see. The Corsa sounds so good and with the stainless steel it'll last virtually forever so if he'll take the 200 or 250 (shipped) i'd have a hard time passing it up considering how high dollar the thing is new. I'd never buy this system brand new that is for sure!

As long as it is all Corsa. ****** China, flooding the market with more ********, at an exhaust shop a couple months ago they were telling me about cheap imported stainless steel pipe rotting out much too soon. I looked at the new uninstalled pipe and it was stainless but low to no nickel content, which gives it it's pinkish or purplish hue. Mufflers and pipes just rotting right out at the weld seams in a matter of 6 months to a year. Might just be my personal shade of OCD. Even with guns I would MUCH rather buy a new one, so you KNOW what kind of shape it's in, rather than buy a pig in a poke that could quit working a week after you have it, or blow up in your face because someone shot HP+V ammo in a gun not rated for it.

He's sending me pics of it tomorrow of how it looks from around the Burb and some underneath pics too. The more I talk to him the more I think I'm going to offer $200 shipped and see what he says.

I'd try to find a used Corsa muffler then get the tips seperately
