what these studs for? A friend gave me this axel for my 73 K10 said it came out of a 73 blazer. Mine doesn't have these studs on it. I can't seem find

That looks like a rear axle based on the shock brackets and brake line bracket on the diff cover bolt.

While I agree probably for extra shock...I do find it odd as being so medial, I would think it would be a rough ride and I would also think break off easily as its literally welded in a shear position.

Looks like a stud for a shock mount...without much reinforcement.
