So I am curious after seeing a few different odds n ends off different vehicles that seem to swap in as if they were made to. So for the sake of education and sharing a little knowledge, I made this thread.

What I've seen. The obvious LS swap. To go into this further, the donor vehicle, an early Silverado 1500, 5.3/4L60e 2wd.
-Engine and attached accessories
-Radiator and A/C Condenser
-Transmission
Seen but couldn't find information about it
*Silverado Brake Booster
*Master Cylinder
*S10 brake fluid reservoir.
Haven't seen, but shouldn't be incredibly difficult
< Silverado Dash Trim Bezel
< Using the switches that fit the bezel
< Silverado Gauge Cluster
< Silverado front bench w/ folding center
< Silverado tailgate guts for c10 tailgate
< Stock Steering wheel w/out hand controls

Curious what anyone has seen or done with their square by swapping the parts from a different vehicle. Could be anything as far as I'm concerned. The donor vehicle I picked up (03 2wd 5.3/60e) got me thinkin that I mite as well use absolutely anything I can, yet will be well worth the effort. (Reward being greater the effort.. )

Might want to look for some landing lights for an older plane. I've heard that they fit into the highbeam buckets of corvair monzas. Not sure what diameter light they were, might be the same as the truck. Not exactly legal (highly illegal) and tend to drain the battery pretty quick, but you'll never have to worry about dim lights again....or so I've heard.

My tailgate hinges are awful, I’m pretty sure they’re missing some pieces, or they’re just that bad. What went into swapping in a later style hinge set, and how do you like it?

Not a lot but there was some “massaging” it into fitment. It’s a Doorman kit for 99-07 Silverados.

I had to drill two holes on the bed side because the mounts are different sizes: one for the lower bolt and one for the alignment pin. I also had to take off the tail light plastics to get a nut on the back side of the lower bolt. On the tailgate side the new mount sort of “slips into place”. I drilled two new holes per to mount to the gate and found I had juuust enough room to get locknuts on the back side of the mounting bolts.

A couple of wiggles with a pry bar and taps with a 2 lb hammer on the tailgate side and my tailgate latched correctly for the first time!

...Then I loaded that 750 lb 6x6 into it via the tailgate and trashed my new mounts two weeks later lol

Well, I do have the obvious LS swap.

Otherwise,

Avalanche rear seat

GMT800 Tahoe Master Cylinder

Taurus Fan

That's it as far as I can think of, it's mostly stock... Ish...

What did the brake master cylinder all entail? Anything difficult or pretty self explanatory once it comes apart? You use the booster as well? I'm considering yanking the brake booster/master cyl off my donor 03 Silverado. Bc my c10 needs one anyways, so might as well? Some guy used a s10 fluid reservoir as well. Smaller/ more sleek looking instead of bulky apple juice jug. [emoji2369]
