There is that blank field at the bottom of the page that says Write your reply.

But being a sometimes fast-paced forum the context might get lost if you don't respond fast enough or quote what you're responding to.
Yep, and I've used that a couple times when posts were idling, or if I'm just adding, for example, something here I did. Something obvious I neglected to include.

Generally, I just use a quote.

To be fair to this site, the instability of of the Windows OS, which may be worse on one computer than another, especially if the operator was able to block the "keep us safe," work product destroying updates (grumble, gripe. . . . ) may be why the one quote "doesn't always take." Like I mentioned, after one of the updates, a month or two back, clicks started piercing the page I was on and taking me back to the Desk Top, one time shutting down what I was working in and another not.

…and I reinforced to new piece with AL stock.

Getting ready to install a stereo. Trying to get it dead on, on a surface that has many rises and falls as Carter used to have liver pills will be fun. Haven't done it in over 40 years. Fortunately, have the tools, AND can ease up on to it (i.e. cut 1/16 too small and bring it in to take the mounting rack.

Have been mulling just building a rack/plate to mount my stereo on, instead of using the one that came with the unit. That would be easier than chasing the nice fit you got for your insert/mount.

Since someone drilled about twenty CB holding screw holes below it, I might just install an equalizer (had one back when and liked being able to tune, for my ears, with relative ease) just below it.

So, having the equalizer below the stereo would require a more complicated mounting bracket for both.

I did the stereo/eq mount in my Chevelle long ago. I had a piece of scrap 1/4 AL that I cut out a panel from. A little trimming on the stock dash and it fit in nicely. I had a drop in the panel below the original radio location. I modded the eq to be face mounted instead of hanging from the side brackets. Brushed and black anodized it looked almost like it belonged there. It gave me a place to mount SW gauges as well. There isn't the same kind of width and depth to work with in a square, but still might be a nice finished product. I'd go for it.

Got my tank switch to align the functioning flowing tank with actual fuel gauge level reading. :) I had wires crossed, so it was fueling from Right, while showing level of Left, then vice versa when switched.
Which is why a couple Saturdays ago, when I tried to drive in to town.. I ran out of gas, while the gauge still said I had a full tank. I was pulling from the wrong tank. Or looking at the wrong level. Whichever way you want to think about it. hah

Got the original rear springs removed and a nice low mile set from an 87 K25 Diesel Suburban installed. I had to cut both front bolts with cutoff wheels and some quality Milwaukee blades. I then test fit my clamp on three leaf overload springs and saw future interference with the factory overload brackets. Those brackets are now on the floor. Pictures tomorrow.

Had this nasty rattle, that I assumed was a rocker arm. Turns out it was an exhaust check valve. The hose had cracked and the inside was rattling like crazy . Temporary cap until I take it off or replace the hose. With that, 2 new valve covers, gaskets, and a nice degrease later and she’s back quiet . (also plugged up some vacuum leaks while I was in there.) Anybody have any tips or tricks for exhaust/emissions stuff us in California ? Also any good ideas for sound and exhaust routing on a long bed , it’s a 305 so nothing special but would love to clean up that nasty looking single to dual outlet exhaust exit .

Nice! Glad it was a simple fix!
Indeed!
This morning before the sun was up, I decided to flip the polarity wires at the valve now too (in theory, it should basically flip my switch 180 without physically having to remove the dash and go through that whole headache.)
But there is also a slight chance I just offset the function from the gauge the other way now. To be determined later today after the rest of the neighborhood wakes up and I feel comfortable with starting the truck. :D hah.
I should probably look into toning the exhaust down a little bit someday..

I like the whole sentiment from Frieburger about "Don't get it right, just get it running.." but I just cant live that way. Even if its running.. I've got to keep messing with it until it's right.

people need to hear the truck before they see it...

Taking emissions equipment off of 305s,typically creates more problems than it solves. Also single exhaust will out perform dual exhaust on your truck. EGR cools combustion chambers reducing preignition chances, the ESC ignition also combats preignition. They raised the compression on the 305s around 1981 to improve performance and gas milage, but this made them more prone to preignition. Properly sized single exhaust improves exhaust scavenging in lower rpms. You aren't going to be turning a stock 305 hard enough to outperform a good single exhaust.

Thanks for your input that’s pretty much exactly what I needed to hear and know !

Cut the spring perches off the roller rear end to fit the crew cab 40” spring center spacing. Don’t panic these are just a $100 set of ten bolt diffs with 3.07 gears to roll it around. $50 set of roller tires and wheels that hold air. Here it is with the 87 k25 Suburban rear springs and the clamp on overloads off the 94 C2500 donor truck. The truck I get the intercooled 6.5 2004 TD AND 4L80 from. Still waiting on the long 32 spline input for the 205, I am sure no one else is waiting for parts.
Also one new 20 gallon tank with skid plate mocked up on the driver’s side. The straps for the 31 Suburban tank and some of the fill pieces arrive today.
