Finally pulling the passenger tank. Much easier than driver side.

I was going to say the same thing.. I kept pushing my tank dropping off as well for as long as I could, then once I did it I was like.. c'mon, really? Why didnt I do this months ago? Easy.
And yeah, floor jack "helper" for the win. Same for when you go to reinstall - set it back on the jack and let it do the "heavy lifting" in place.

Pro-Eagles are legit. Expensive.. but incredible.
I've jacked up from the pumpkin in the back and rolled the entire truck sideways a number of times to pivot around my shop using it. They hold up so good.
Originally designed to support the offroad race trucks out in the desert and stuff - they withstand a lot of rugged work.

If you have them empty (or seriously close) and use a floor jack to slow re-entry, it's not as bad as you might think. I did it in the gravel carport with the jack on plywood so it would roll.

It's nice having that third hand holding it up while you go after the sending unit wiring and hoses (except I would just cut them because now is a great time to replace them anyway). Don't let the fill tube give you fits either, just manhandle it.

Forgot to mention one thing, leave the hanger brackets on the tank. Remove the 8 bolts holding the brackets on the frame. You will have to push the tank assembly away from the frame slightly to clear where the strap bolts fit in their clearance holes, but the rest still applies. Floor jack for re-entry, especially if any fuel is still present. Be aware of how it goes, it will want to be squirrely if there's liquid doing its dance.
It's a daunting task, not mission impossible.

It's a Gen VI, 96-00

Finished the tailpipe and rear hanger, only to find the exhaust manifold is leaking on cylinder 1.

Was looking at the tail pipe photos and it took me to my buddy's lessen-learned adventure. He'd done some repairs and his pipe ended up exhausting at wiring he hadn't thought about, or didn't know was there. Melted the insulation and shorted the tail lights and such. After a bunch of groping around, he found the melted wires, repaired them and re-routed the exhaust.

Went looking for tail lights for the K10 in our junkyard, struck out on that but did come across a distributor and a factory tach cluster out of a C65 with a blown big block.

Looks like the oil pump drive shaft broke where it meets the pump.

Pieced together one good distributor from the two and swapped it into the Suburban definitely starts easier and runs smoother now.

Since I found out about yet another filter that had probably not been changed in 41 years, the filter from the carb to the brake booster, I removed said vintage filter and replaced with a NOS unit. I honestly thought they were farther worn than that, especially from the noise !

Oh, well- I am planning on taking Goldie for a road trip to the National Forest with some high school buds next week and new tires seemed like a good plan.
