For a set of daily drivers, think they came out pretty decent. Just a little elbow grease, #0000 steel wool and Wenol polish.

You're gonna wanna do spindles instead of cutting that much off the spring. You'll never get it aligned, 1 coil cut of = 2" of drop fyi. I've got ~1.5 coils cut on my truck and can't quite get the camber in spec. It's not too bad but instead of getting 40-50k miles out of the front tires, I'm getting 25-30k
It’s never had an alignment done since the day it left the factory. Only suspension work prior to the drop was installing load assist shocks. 1.5 coils and normal shocks will likely set the front how it needs to be. Lower, but still able to run a 235/75, too much void out back for that narrow of a tire.

Same rear tires I have right now. I was pretty impressed with them on my open geared truck. USA made, matching date codes, fair price, decent traction w/o “singing” on pavement… Don’t understand the hate they get in online reviews.

I wish my center caps would clean up that nice. Would look better against my red rally wheels.

Today I just wanted to run a couple errands in the truck and was planning to snap some pics while out and about.

I drove it to the gas station and it ran totally normal. Cranked up at the pump and it sounded off a tad. I pulled out from the station and it was running rough. I made it to my in laws to drop off My FIL's ladder he left at our house, so I took advantage and hung out for about 15 minutes to let it sit. I first made sure the battery terminals were fully connected, then looked under the air filter to make sure the throttle cable was attached, lol.
Cranked it up to head home since I inconveniently had to cancel my cruising plans, and all power cut out in reverse. I cranked it up again got out of the driveway and it cut out again after turning from the stop sign. I crawled it home like this with a few other power cut outs after coming to complete stops in drive, but finally made it. Luckily everyone was at work or had already gotten their kids to school and not much was happening in the neighborhood.

I get on the phone and start explaining all this to my mechanic nephew, knowing there is nothing he can do until he looks at it with me..my OCD.

After about an hour and a half I cranked it up and it sounded to be idling well. I put it in reverse, neutral, drive, park and it seemed normal. I turned it off and came back to it 30 minutes later. Cranked it up and this ignition it puffed out white smoke only on the crank up. I drove it around the neighborhood and it was driving totally normal. I never got it past 35 but it did not show any signs of rough idle or throttle. I will be driving it again later and get it out to some main roads and see how it does at cruising speeds.

I think this is a pattern that happens when I let it sit parked for more than a few days in a row.

Just took it out again and had it cruising up around 45-55 mph. Normal all the way.

Spent a few bucks on a 1” carb spacer. Since I’ve been down with a cold, I’ve watched too many Engine Masters. It’s a cheap experiment just to see if it feels any different or affected the AFR.

The old Edelbrock insulator spacer had a divider which dictated that the two planes were completely separated to one primary and one secondary. This is an open square so it lets the vacuum signal talk to the carburetor and in theory even out the distribution if any this is rich or lean individually.

Of course, it didn’t change the AFR, but the vacuum signal on the gauge is less erratic with spacer. The cam has about 14 or mercury at 800 and about 11-12 in gear at about 650-700. I’m beginning to wonder if it already has a XE274 cam in it. The sound and the characteristics certainly line up.

Had to put a new grill in and transferred the emblem over. Stupid milk crate slide away from me and I put my knee into the original one and it disintegrated into like a dozen pieces didn't realize it was that brittle from age/environment the difference in color was very noticeable side by side.
