Something I've been needing to do for a while. My paint skills weren't great on the first few panels when I did my garage booth paint job. Had a lot of orange peel I couldnt live with. It was a definite ten foot hottie. So I've been color sanding, compounding, and polishing for a full week.

One fender and door down. First time attempting something like this.

It's not fun. A smart man would just repaint. Figured I'd improve my detail skills though and suffer through labor of love.

Don’t feel bad man. For me, sandpaper and a polisher make the painter I ain’t!
That looks beautiful!

Found this one on ebay. It's the same price as my guy wants for his if he has the right one. This one would save you shipping money and it seems to have the same latch you're looking for.
Thanks Doug. I ordered the one from the link you sent. Hopefully it is in as good of shape as it looks in the photos.

I tried offering lower but was declined 3 times, so I paid full.

205/70 or more likely 215/60. Stock was P205/75 all around, have P235/75 rears with room for 30-9.5 or 31-10.5. Truck is on 15x6 van wheels, that are stock per the spid label. Will fine tune the rear height via tire selection. P235/75 up front with same model 31-10.5 out back would be ideal.
You'd be better off doing spindles and then once you settle on what wheels and tires you're going to run adjusting from there.

This is a 2 inch drop spring compared to a stock spring, and I could jack the entire front end off the ground and reach in and move these around with a bit of force without unbolting anything, heck I could almost install them without a jack lifting the control arm, any shorter and they'd probably fall out of place.

A 3" drop spring will still stay put barely but 4" fall out of the upper pocket anytime you raise the truck up. Its super annoying lol

Now, imagine if you will, going over that one railroad crossing. You know, the one that lets folks exercise their inner General Lee.

Yeah. Won't end well :D

Spa day for Pearl. A late afternoon appointment.

It was late in the day when I finished. Just the outer bits, but it's a start. Put some attention to the glass so i can see where im trying to go. Actually looks great compared with the green goobies growing in the edges and the tan from all the dust and dirt off the logging trucks that cruise by every day. Won't be long before another patina takes its place.

I've been sorting out electrical gremlins here and there but soon enough all the circuits will work. Got the wipers to crawl across the glass for the first time so that is a good sign. Onward and upward

Moved the chassis into the other garage and got the Cobra down. Haven't touched the Cobra since December and I am at the point where I don't have a lot to do on the chassis so I can let it set in the air for a bit. I hope we can get started on the cab rust repairs soon now that it is cooling off. I need to spend a day and clean out the garage though. Its an utter mess, both this one and the one I work in.

Yeah they're going for that price today it seems. Here's the pictures he sent me of the one he has. Also wants 125 for it. But you got free shipping from ebay at least.

I have a 1991 GMC Burb 4x4 that needs one like this pic...

Cast aluminum at least the ones like that I had were. Could be plastic thou as I've seen those as well but think they were newer ones.

Just a quick search brings these up on Ebay and they are plastic/ABS.

On Saturday I warshed it and pulled the center console out so I can get to the transmission hump when I'm ready to drop the trans out

Also before I yanked out the console/system, I tested my mono amp I found in the garage that I'm now gonna use in the red truck lol

Then Sunday I started getting the motor ready to pull, pulled off the intake tube/belt/plug wires/alternator/intake and popped a valve cover off to make sure I don't have any obvious issues up top. Nope, it's the lifters making the racket
