Went to the shop to check on my truck. He's got 1 more leak to fix. The O-Ring on the tranny tube got pinched.
I also learned that it does not have a '73 rear axle. WTF? He says it's possibly from an '82. I bought the truck in '84 from a guy that only had it 4 months.
I've never had a problem with it until now so I guess I (it) was living on borrowed time. Truck had 164K on it when I bought it. Now it has 492K. I must be doing something right.

Oohhhhhhh yeahhh... didn't this come up in the past? It's a 10 bolt axle that you have, correct?

I received the new power steering return hose in the mail today so I cut it to length and installed it. I filled the reservoir and turned the pulley shaft by hand a few times just to see how it felt (ok). I decided to let it sit for awhile to to see if there would be any leaks with no pressure applied. Went out a few hours later, and low and behold,it's leaking like a sieve where the pump presses into the reservoir housing. Since I had installed a new o-ring there's nothing more I can do. Ordered a new one. The rebuild kit was only $13 so I'm not out a lot of money.

so the ol bias ply is off and the odd one out is on the front.

put wipers on the square again so i can move snow with it
Got that tire replaced so I can use 4wd to keep the trailer out of the deep snow like last year
Lubricated hood doors toolbox doors etc.
Got my trailer hooked up to it so square pulling square, the mathematics seems like we are getting into some Exponents that are scary with that!

Even without a shroud, an overflow, and at the moment a wire hooked to the sending unit for coolant( it broke when it got pinched in valve cover whoops)
The truck doesnt overheat running which is awesome and gets heat.
Oil pressure and voltage are good too to see

Yea I found that I need to replace the rear brake shoes and poss turn the drums. I believe they are the original rear brakes. Still have the retainers on the studs to hold the drums on during final assy at the plant. The front disc pads have been replaced once. There is two fine cracks in the dash though that I will have repaired that are about 1/32 wide and not curled up yet.. Other than that the truck checks out fine.. Oh it still has the original tires too.. Narrow White walls spare included..... Will need to change them soon.
