You ever have one of those days where you feel like someone just stabbed you in the eye with a needle?

So after getting a piece of metal in my eye while working on my sisters car, I went to the ER to get it checked out. They said that it was no big deal if it doesn't hurt real bad.

The doctor insisted on trying to take it out though, then he proceeded to accidently stab me in the eye with a needle.

Now I they want me to wear an eye patch and put drops in every hour for the next couple weeks.

So after a $750 deductible to get stabbed in the eye, Its 2 am, I don't have my glasses, I'm in a **** load of pain, and to top everything off, O'l Yeller won't turn over, the starter spun, but the solenoid didn't engage it.

So I had to roll start the damn thing, and drive home mostly blind.

Things could be worse though, I could get stabbed in the eye with a needle.
I feel your pain. Have done this numerous times thru the years. You'd think after the first time, the glasses would be worn. For some stupid reason, I seem to still not use them.

I had a piece of metal get stuck in my eye as well. Many times have I just had **** get in my eyes but it would always come out within 24 hours for sure. Was blowing off a freshly ground flywheel after it just got ran through the parts washer, and out of the 100's of times I'd done that, this one time I got one that wouldn't go away.

It hurt like hell, I went home and literally could see the tiny piece of metal when looking in a mirror. I either went to the ER late that evening, after work or the next day. They literally said they couldn't find anything, with their fancy ass eye machines. But I could somehow see it in a mirror.. So that was wasted, other than the eye drop they gave me there, the ones they gave me were trash. The next day I went to an actual eye specialist, and they found it immediately and took a little eye die grinder, and it's supposed to grab the piece and fling it out, or something like that.

Hurt a lot more after that, ended up being really close to dead center of my pupil. Can still see the spot in my vision, doesn't cause any issues just a tiny spot that's noticeable when I think about it.

I'm just glad I didn't get stabbed with a needle! What the hell were they doing with a needle anyways? Don't think my pain lasted more than a week, I didn't get stabbed though lol

The pain still wasn't as bad as the time I burned my eyes welding in my opinion... don't mess with that.

A magnet is usually your friend for something like that. Doesn't work so good on brass or aluminum though. After an exercise or two in close calls I'm pretty fanatical about wearing the safety glasses.

Well a few weeks ago I started to try to track down a long standing vibration. I've got a good start but not a definitive answer to the problem. Mainly because the week before last we had a streak of warm weather and it obvious my fan clutch had bit the dust. In the three years I've owned this truck one of the few things I have done much with is the cooling system, so I wanted to rebuilt it with new hoses, thermostat, fan clutch and a good radiator cleaning.

I installed three defective aftermarket fan clutches before ordering an A/C delco unit (you can read about that on the thread titled Fan clutch debacle). Today I finally got to do the rest of the cooling system overhaul.

Pulled the radiator out and cleaned it out with muriatic acid. Basically the technique is to put the radiator on a stable outdoor surface, flush it with water then fill it with the acid. Leave for 15 minutes, drain acid out, flush out with water, then put the acid back in. I did this I think 5 times. Then after flushing the radiator with water I put a weak baking soda and water solution in the radiator and flushed again just to be sure all the acid is gone. It's a lot better inside, but not 100% clean, you can get it to that, but there is risk of leakage if you overdue it, so I just like to get the bulk of the build up out. This is not as good a job as a radiator shop would do, but there aren't any left nearby anymore and doing this will assure it work though the summer without any trouble.

Then I reinstalled the radiator, new radiator hoses, heater hoses, and thermostat. Filled it up with new coolant, and added a bottle of anti-rust / deposit inhibitor.

ran the numbers and I'm getting 13MPG with the LS 5.3/4l60e. I tend to stay in 3rd gear until I get over 75 so all things considered I'm happy.

changed the oil today from Amazon 5w-30 full synthetic to Puraglobe/Syntainics 5w-30 and I'll run the numbers for a few oil changes with it. I hope it does well. I've been waiting for them to make it available to consumers for years. It's renewed oil with graphene in it. It's about $17 more per oil change.

kinda curious if the graphene will end up in the filter and stay there.

I pushed out the '88 and degreased the hell out of the front undercarriage, transfer case and tranny and pressure washed it good. After years of filth and dried leaks and grease and anything else you can think of, it's finally clean for the front to be prepped and painted but that's probably a ways out. Pushing outside again reminds me as how tall the thing actually is and how badass it's going to become....

I had also washed and detailed the '80 for my first car show of the year for me tomorrow. Hopefully it doesn't get rained out... don't worry gentleman, there will be pictures

Since the square truck has been sitting gracefully in the spot I parked it I will use my square trailer for progress

just recently got it filled, ready to bring to the incinerator. I use it to haul garbage. I fixed my front window pin latch thing so it stays shut and I evaluated my option for a different tailgate so it doesn’t snap in half on me or fall off the trailer.

After I empty the trailer, I will he finally affixing permanent and road legal lighting fixtures to the trailer so it’s all kosher. I’ve been getting away with magnetic lights but I’d rather just not have to worry. I have a boat load of small amber wjd red trailer clearance markers from my grandpa in a box as he was making trailers and stuff. I will make it a little more illuminated than necessary but figure a large 8ft enclosed trailer that’s black could use good night time lighting.
I will also finally get my trailer chains proper since I had to use a set of chains to do one side because the mounting point on the tongue is too far for any shelf bought chain set. My grandpa had dinky chains attached to the coupler mounting bolts, I moved it back to the frame and used a chain with a missing hook on one side and a trailer chain set on the other. We will be proper finally.
I’m also going to replace the harbor freight coupler because it’s bent and worn and a new one bolts in place
Also looking into making a holding rack where the gas tanks would be for my two shovel tools I use to empty the trailer so I don’t have to keep them away from the trailer

I know it's your camera angle, but the 88 appears too tall for the garage door opening!

Headliner looks great, so does that metallic paint
Can’t say I’d be all over the Halloween color theme, but not my truck. You might not like blue as well! Lol.

But what about the paint? How long has it been painted? How does it lay down, how durable?
I bought Tamco everything to redo the Freedom wagon but so far I’m only into primer and chassis paint. Both of which seem to be great quality. Primer adheres great even to bare metal, sands easy, builds easy, doesn’t shrink. Havent tried using it as final seal coat yet.
And haven’t cracked open any of the base coat or clear yet.

was just to much to pass up the price of Tamco and supposed quality compared to the big name paints.

that headliner is sweet. What material is it?

that headliner is awesome. What material is it? You don’t happen to have and pictures of the front cardboard section and where the holes are for the console do you? I’m adding a console to my 87 which never had one so I’m just looking for reference pictures of the holes before making mine.
