For the first time in over 3.5 years, I actually used it as a truck. Didn't work on it, it wasn't a test drive. It was weird.

The wife and I took our cats to the vet then picked up propane for the grill and stopped at a storage place I keep. As I sat at the light with all the late model shiny cars surrounding us with their payment books, I realized how much of a non conformist I am.

A neighbor and I recently had a conversation about EV's as they own a Tesla along with an older Prius and she couldn't understand why I would want a vehicle like my truck. I just couldn't say to her I felt the same about her choices as mine is 39 years old and it would be a miracle if hers makes it 20 years.

hoagster, is that beautiful or what?

Yea it was a pain in the backside. New Clips for the cluster ribbon were a pain getting the gauges installed. But so far everything is working. Haven't started the motor yet to see the oil pressure or fuel status but they worked before I stripped that cluster down.

went a different route on mounting the mirrors.wish I had thought of this prior to drilling a couple holes!! I am using the stock mount for the lower portion and then some aftermarket brackets for the upper. Much more solid!! I am going to use bolts and nuts to mount the bracket to the door, don't want the stock screws to loosen up. Had to order new gaskets that go behind the mount since I tossed the old ones ,thinking I would not need them!! Brilliant!!

That's kind of genius.

More of a hope I might use it someday  I got them on a deal and didn't want them to go in the garbage. But I don't really have a build in mind that I would use them on. On the lookout for a crew cab and a blazer, but otherwise my project list is full(financially anyways). ***** too expensive to be building a bunch of projects these days, here for a good time not a long time!

I also wouldn't mind contributing to your cool truck!

Anyways you're welcome to take it off my hands if you'd like lol. Don't want much for it. Pm if interested.
Ahhh yes, I get that, hence the reason I have stuff everywhere too! Expensive, you aren't kidding, so for me it's one slow project at a time if I'm lucky.

Picked up more future fodder today from scouring Craigslist of all places. Got a pair of Flowmaster 50 series, 3 inch, new uninstalled, for a buck and a half. Down from two hundred for the pair and a significantly shorter ride than the wiring harness last week. Sweet.

Have headers, have mufflers, just need the paraphernalia to make it play. As long as this is taking I'm going to watch for some cats too, might as well. Then I can truly justify an AF meter, although one would be a good thing to have anyway. It's coming along, in the sense I'm piling up parts for warmer weather.

3-D printers be a showing up more and more. As I mentioned elsewhere, I made the plunge. I justified it by things like the cost of a custom dash (e.g, $1,500.00 for what anyone else with money to burn has). Decades back, I made my own (I own a significant wood working shop). I'm playing with plans to do the same with my 78. A 3-D printer would allow me to label gauges, lights and switches.

I bought a Bambu P2S [and already want a three head printer] and am, literally, the beginner stage with regard to different filaments and using computer assisted software [CAD].

In the course of playing/learning, I figured I'd look down the road of mechanics tool box labels for practice. Since they are relative, figured I'd post some of the attempts.

NOTE: Jumping from one program to another trashes some of your efforts to apply colors, and even positioning of print items, sometimes lifting them off the print plate. That has to be corrected. Then there is the matter of trying to be consistent in thicknesses and so on. to minimize printer poop, increased print time. Eventually. . . . .

Today I may run another test or three with different colors.

SIDE NOTE: Just the list of tool box items is up to around 100. I suspect it will be far more than that when I'm done. Then there is the matter of printing common sense and senior versions.

By the time I get things arranged how I want them, I suspect several of my friends will have labels for the mechanics tools.
Let me know if you have any questions, I do a lot of 3d printing. I've made some really cool stuff for the truck with it, plus things for my dad's 67 Mustang.

Anyone have any idea what Amp fuse to use with the heated west coast mirrors?

I think a circuit breaker is the answer to the mirror circuit. That's how Freightliner did it in the Classic I had. I want to say 30A, but let the wire guage determine the amperage.

I'll take you up on that, since I'm just getting started. As you must know, there is a major learning curve, if you are going beyond just pulling down what others built.

Even simple things like getting colors into lettering has taken me all over the place.

There is the matter of how much of what I build I want seen by others, tossed onto the cloud and so on.

I like the simplicity of Tinkercad, but a lot gets lost in the slice translation, so then it's off to learning the much more complicated [until you learn them] operating details of Bambu's slicer.

And then learning the quirks of different filaments, and even the differences between manufacturers' products.

Yeah, most of my stuff is drawn by myself. I started on a bed slinger and have since upgraded and now onto multi color prints. If you look through my post history or through my build thread here, I have a lot of the examples of what I have done. Build Thread

That being said, I have used some of the stuff I can get online for certain things but a lot of drawn stuff too.
