Yep. I just ran all of power tour again in my wagon. 350/350 and iirc, 3.08 gear. On the highway, I definitely was not holding anyone up lol. That was with the wife, our 2-year old and our 3-month old twins. And all the luggage associated with picknicing and traveling with three little ones. 75mph was just like a walk in the park.

1973 my mom got a ticket 85 in a 70 just cruising home with 3 kids 442 455 4speed 3.36 gears. I was talking to dad about it the other day because this topic comes up so often on here, I just remembered the ticket not the speed. Those old non O.D. American Iron has just gotten under rated. IDK. we all rode around,drove around in 4 speed or 3 speed auto junk and no one was afraid to drive it at 90 all day.

Ahhh yes. I never said it was not doable. And with tall gears like that it’s certainly more comfortable. Same here. And I’d do it today if it was a necessity or for a reason to drive the old truck.

Get your self a pin removal tool for gm off Amazon replace the blades, super simple- even I can do it.

That's interesting, I wasn't aware of such a tool but not surprised. I will look for one because the $700 for another complete harness, while probably a good idea to replace the 46 year old brittle wiring, needs to be a down the road thing. Thanks for the heads up.

You don't know that tools nomenclature off the top of your head, do you? Holy crap there's a lot of choices.

I wish you could buy kits with the specific ends/connections for a specific vehicle... and no wiring. It's easy to build a harness but the extras, especially when they are different from the original, make it more difficult.

Installed C.R. Laurance metal latch today. I used the old plastic as a spacer for the latch on the drivers side with original screws. Passenger side got the tab end. On the tab side, I had to use the old plastic as a spacer, but had to sand it down a hundred thousands to get the old screws to work. Took 5 minutes while watching the race on 220 grit sandpaper.

FYI, if the holes dont match up....flip side to side. My clasp wanted to be on drivers side. The spacing is different between the holes on the two parts.

Been a while since I updated y'all on the dually project. Just been too dang busy. So here's the rapid fire round:

We've finished the body work, including all rockers and some of the front flooring. Finished all paint, including a lower layer of Raptor liner for extra protection. Got a wiring harness from Painless since this truck was one key cycle away from burning down. I've got a picture of the spaghetti mess at the fuse block somewhere on here. . . Got the majority of the cab wiring completed. Just put a solid effort in today on the engine bay's wiring. While I've been doing that, my brother's been having the pleasure of piecing the interior together. Carpet, trim, seats, CB, vent replacement on the dash/dash pad. Replaced all of the door/window seals. Repainted the roof and replaced all lenses, including clearance lights and cargo light. Installed the winch and fog lamps. Wired those in today as well.

Probably much more that I'm forgetting but the project is moving along and looks like we'll have this rig done by our estimated deadline.

After wiring, i need to redo all of the fuel lines. It's currently rubber hose ran the whole way and that's how trucks burn down. Haven't had any luck finding any pre-bent fuel lines for a crew cab, so any suggestions would be great. I plan on buying a roll of something and making that work. Any suggestions? Thanks guys.
