your money would be better spent on something more efficient and powerful. that's 50+ year old technology, a Vortec 350 will walk all over it, and you won't have to fight a collector for one of the "ultra rare" L31s.

The vortec motors and LSx motors are cool but sometimes a project may just call for "old muscle" :)

not much of a generator they only put out 35 amps

It's all they needed. No A/C, no power steering, no climate control, many didn't even have a radio or heater.

It's all they needed. No A/C, no power steering, no climate control, many didn't even have a radio or heater.

I have a radio in my truck but don't need one. I just listen to the wind, motor and exhaust as I motor down the road :D

The 409 is a beautiful engine
