This seems like a great idea. I need to replace my weatherstripping but had lost motivation after reading how big of a headache it is to do this job. Based on others' experiences, I figured I would pay the $500 to Precision to have them deal with the headache, but this gives me hope. This means I wouldn't have to take the vent window assembly out of the door correct? Are there any other difficult parts of the weatherstrip install that are a pain?

One of the main reasons I asked about this is because I already replaced the window channel seal on the red truck. Didn’t want to take a chance of screwing that up taking it back out. It may make a difference though if I have a two piece vent window seal. I’ll have to investigate that.

I used the 2 piece vent window seals, I borrowed a mini rivet setting press tool from a friend, use plenty of lube non-petroleum based and take your time, it’s very doable just a little patience and you can do it. Good luck

My 2 cents. While this is a neat trick that will work for many, and may be a temp repair to get you through until you can tear it apart....I think this is best reserved for the show vehicle that gets limited use. In the link, it was a '63 Continental and I suspect that it's not being driven much. If the seal does fail, most likely it's just a short drive home to repair. My concern is a lot of folks on here drive their trucks daily/ regularly and possibly in adverse conditions. They open and close the vent windows a lot more than the guy that only goes to shows. Be interesting how it holds up for those.

Finally got the latches from Amazon. The snow delayed them a bit. They seem to work fine. More parts in the bag than you need or can fit in the glass. Look nice. Made in Taiwan. Better that what I had for sure. We'll see if they last.

We did ours, two piece set from precision. Took a while. Took one frame apart and not the second. Both came out great. But as posted above take your time, walk away when you have to!
The refurbish at precision is a great deal as everything is included including powder coating frames which we were unable to do but they came out fine.
