Anyone got a stock valve cover for 305 or 350 laying around? If so can you tell me what size grommet the thing uses for the breather tube that hooks to the air cleaner? I need one for the monte carlo and put in a breather cap but not sure on the hole size, I know it's only a bit bigger then 3/4, not quite an inch either I don't think. I am going to autozone tomorrow to order more junk for it and was gonna find one.

The valve cover on it is for an 84 chevy pickup 305 h code.

I thinks it's 1.24 in the cover itself. The grommets have two different sized centers, depending on if it's for a pcv (small) or breather (large). Sometimes breather tubes use the smaller hole too though.

nope it's smaller then 1 inch and bigger then 3/4 by a little bit, and that's valve cover hole itself.

Now my new chrome ones for my 88 have 1.25 or 1 1/4 holes but this is alot smaller.

I have a 1 inch dia. breather and 3/4 dia. pcv and the pcv will fit with room, but the 1 inch doesn't fit I think, or maybe just barely.

Hmm, I have some stock covers at work (from '84), I'll try to remember to measure them tomorrow.

mines no where near that size for stock. The hole is like right at 7/8, which is right, because 1 inch bottom breather won't fit and 3/4 has some play.

I couldn't find a grommet for it either and it needs one. Right now it's open completely and has been for awhile now.

too big they are almost the same size as yours.

1.22 is only .03 difference from 1-1/4 or 1.25

Mines like 7/8 or .875

I say get the big ones, cram the tube in there, and seal it with some black RTV so it matches. :grd: Chewed up chewing gum would work too if you don't mind the color not matching. Use blueberry flavored gum, and at least it might match the blue valve covers. IF they are orangeish, then chew some strawberry or rasberry. You'll get it close enough.

The metric equivalent to 7/8" would be 22.22mm, so if you find yourself at a parts store look and see if they carry a 23mm pcv valve, 0.034" too big should squeeze in.
