Got a 1987 Chevy v10, got some center bolt valve covers from a junkyard but don't know exactly what they came off of. The 1/4 turn oil cap does not work and there are no threads for a different one. Does it take a tube? I currently have a crappy press fit one in there and even that one doesn't seem to fit. There is no bevel or anything in the hole, any help appreciated

It should be a 1/4 or 1/2 turn extension tube with the click style twist cap on top.

Does a grommet go there ? Or is there an oil cap replacement to forego the tube ?

I think the tube has a grommet on it. I haven't messed with the center bolt covers much. I can't say off the top of my head if there is a cap only assembly. I can check my 93 in the next couple days here.

Hopefully someone will chime in

I have the same covers on my truck. The cap has an O-ring and some course threads on it. Try and look for a 86-92 F body cap or early 90's truck cap.

Pretty sure that's how my 1990 suburban is also. Just screws on to the valve cover.

Thanks for the input, does yours have threads in the valve cover for the cap? These do not

They don't really look like threads on the tube either
