TV cable geometry

Hi I've recently installed a 700r4 I had rebuilt. It is replacing my TH350. I am using an Edelbrock 1406 carburetor. I have purchased the correction bracket for the carburetor. I have also purchased a bracket that bolts to the carburetor. I am using a factory GM TV cable i bought at the local pick'n'pull. My problem is the TV cable is not pushing the bushing/plunger all the way into the throttle valve at wide open throttle. Right now I have it set so the lever from the TV cable is just touching the bushing/plunger. Is it ok if this bushing/plunger is pushed in a quarter inch to start with? I will post pictures of my setup. When at wide open throttle the cable is pulled out 1-3/16"(35mm). From what I have researched, this should be enough. Please help

In the back of the old TransStar catalogs I recall seeing a small spring and spacer. The spacer clipped over the cable, the spring spirals over the cable.

The theory is the spring is heavy enough to remain stretched out during normal driving. At WOT, the spring collapses and coil binds to provide that extra travel to bury the tv plunger in its sleeve.

What's distance center to center,from the center of the TV cable stud to the carburetor throttle shaft. I don't think your distance is right. I just measured a Qjet center to center is 1 1/8th

I ended up buying a new TV cable and a different bolt on TV corrector for the carburetor. Now everything is working as it should. The edelbrock adapter may not have allowed the cable to pull out far enough or the junkyard cable was stretched? I dont know. Now I have to figure out why the transmission is dumping fluid out the hole on the output shaft yoke

I think your corrector didn't have the correct center to center distance that's the only thing that makes sense. You needed a longer pull that requires a longer center to center distance.

I am putting together an 86 with a 305 and 700r4 with the edelbrock 1406, what TV cable bracket did you go with?
