Have a 1979 chevrolet 4x4 1/2 ton with 3/4 ton springs. Converting from a 350/ 350 combo with NP 203 to 454/ 400 combo with NP 203. The block is about 2.5 inches longer and the tranny too. Are the stabilizer brackets longer too?

Thanks.

Be aware that it will require the T-Case input shaft/gear from a T-Case that was behind a TH400 to get the T-Case from the 350 to bolt to the TH400, also, the adapter plates between them are different too. The input shaft from the TH350 T-Case is a 27 spline and the shaft from the 400s T-Case is a 32 spline.
Other than that, You might have to drill a couple of new holes in the frame, unless they are pre-punched from the factory.

What actually do you mean by the stabilizer brackets??? I'll assume you're talking about the rod that bolts from the bell housing to the transfer case? The block being longer won't be affected at all, but the length of the trans will certainly make the difference. Is your TH400 a REAL 4x4 trans case, or is it a 2wd Trans case that has had the 4x4 output shaft put in it? If you've got all the of parts bolted in properly, you can probably get by without the rod using the Th400.

Ok, here goes... Shifter is different, but had another laying around off a 400 turbo that will work. long stabilizer bar is different by two inches. Output shaft is bigger but has been replaced with 32 spline. Both driveshafts are different. Rear is shorter and front is longer. And yes, this is a 203 with a part time conversion kit.

Yes, the 400 turbo is a true 4x4 tranny. Came off a 1977? Chevrolet 4x4, full time, with a 400 small block in it.
