Well, without beating around the bush, Maybe a max 4500lbs ONLY if you change your rear end gears to 3.73, add an extra trans cooler, and DO NOT TOW IN Overdrive.
It wont be a speed demon, but thats not what trucks are for.
I would say keep the GCVW in the neighborhood of 9500lbs.

With that setup I would be looking at pop-up tent trailers.

I'd run it with the 3.08's and see how it does. My gutless 305 probably has similar power to the 4.3 and I only have 2.56 gears and I wouldn't be afraid to at least try it out.

If you're not set on a Travel Trailer (TT) I'd highly recommend a pop-up tent trailer. They're a lot more open feeling, and a lot bigger, tow nice because they're low, and don't suck down the power or fuel mileage. A big one, with an 11' or 12' box, will open to 23'-24', with 360 degree views, and features like a fridge, furnace, water heater, electric water pump, roof a/c, sometimes even a built in toilet or toilet/shower combo. Some even have slide out dinettes and pop out kitchen window areas. They typically weigh 2,200-3,500lbs fully loaded and set up to camp and maybe 500-800lbs less empty.

Visit www.popupexplorer.com and www.popupportal.com which are the 2 giant online forums for pop-up (PUP) enthusiasts.

Been draggin' one around California since '07 and we love it.
