Th400 magnet? Are they supposed to have one?

I'm resealing the pan on my 1966 c20 with factory original th400. I'm the second owner and I've service transmission a couple times in years past and always thought it was odd there was no magnet. All other transmissions ive dropped the pan on has had one.
My question is, We're they simply not using them yet in 66 or is it missing? I should probably find one regardless tho.

If it doesn’t have one, put one in.

It seems most original 350/400 cores I have taken apart don’t have magnets. GM probably saved a penny or 2 by not installing magnets.

I put one in every trans I build. It’s cheap insurance and cheap diagnostic aid.

Thanks for the input!. I'm going to find one asap and pit it in. I have a ford transmission I can rob it from
