I've been reading both ways on this. It's going on my 1ton 4x4 dually. I'll be running 37's. As far as I can tell they're both gunna be pricey. Should I keep my th350 which is cheaper to build and get the $plitter? Or, get the weaker, 700r4 and build the hell out of it? Both ways it looks like I'm in to it $2500.

Uhh, where's the option for the TH400/GV?
Lol, yeah I know... $

Personally, I'd go with the GV on the TH350. And a big trans cooler.

My bad. Just crawled under and looked at the oil pan. It's a th400. The back of the pan kinda looks like the lower portion of the state of Texas.

Most definitely a GV then! That's what I want to run in my K30 if I ever have the money. Until then, no OD is fine.

You can’t go wrong with a 400 and a gear vendor. The only other option would be a 4L80. The computer will be kinda pricey, but unless you really need a aftermarket converter I think you could come under your 2500 budget easily. Try and find a good used unit, install a TransGo shift kit, and enjoy the durability of a 400, overdrive, and a locking torque converter

A buddy of mine said that he and a friend used to install them on RV's in the 90's. He's on the look out for me for a used one. I'll look into the Trans Go. Thanks.
