How difficult will it be to replace the cable while the tranny is in the truck?
I know there isn't enough space to look down in the hole from above to hook the cable where it needs to go ........
And I really don't want to have to drop the oil pan.
Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Also, can anybody recommend a source for a quality new cable ?

It's very easy. No need to even pull the pan so long as you keep the wire rod attached at the valve end. It's a 10 minute job.

Just google detent or tv cable and you should get several different options. Just make sure you get one with the correct end for your carb end of the cable.
