vb = valve body. There's a small gasket that goes between the filter and the valve body.

You should get a book or service manual for a 1980 chevy truck and read that

It 99% does not have a drain plug,which is why I said use an upside down trash can lid over your drain pan,otherwise you are going to have a mess. Yes I'm recommending adding a drain plug,and drain and fill the transmission pan on the same day you do your oil changes until you've done at least 4,that will get most of the fluid changed out.

I set my drain pan on a sheet pan (extra large baking pan 18”x26”) to catch the drips. But a trash can lid is probably easier to find

valve body gasket, it would be above the the valve body against the rest of the case/internals under the pan. flat.
