Silly question, but have you tested your horn by itself?

It worked before I rewired the truck. But no, I am still confused how the horn works. It grounds through the mounting bolt and I just supply 12 volts to the connector?

There's a lot at play here...

If your wheels are straight, your cancel cam and lock plate are installed wrong.

The horn contact doesn't act like a button, it's just a contact. The spring tension is what keeps the contact when you turn the wheel. If you connect it to ground (like the steering shaft) it will complete the circuit and trigger the horn.

The original type contact won't work with the Grant steering wheel.

I was trying it without installing the button. Just pushing down in the contact. If I just have to jump the contact to the center shaft I can try that.

Yeah, I guess I need to buy the whole horn installation kit from Grant or just get a replacement OEM wheel. I jumper the horn contact to the center shaft and the horn does in fact work.

I think I'm good. I know how the stock setup should look. Just trying to figure out how to make this Grant setup work or if I should just buy a secondhand OEM column/wheel.

Yank what junk out of there? As I said it works, I just have to figure out what Grant kit I need to finish the job.

Like I said, the grant junk. The steering wheel and the horn button parts. Go back to stock everything, and you'll be happier

I dunno. I removed my stock wheel and installed the same Grant wheel. I like it. It's a smaller diameter and the rim isn't oily when it sits in the sun.

I think I would prefer the bigger wheel. But I have a non-tilt column. I suppose my legs may have a hard time getting under it.

While we are talking column stuff, did all trucks have low and high speed windshield wipers? My stalk only works in the "high" position.
