Hey everyone I’ve been doing some mantince on the k30 and ran into an issue getting it put back together.
I’ve replaced kingpin upper bushing/spring/seal and Lower race/bearing/seal as well as the needle bearing inside the spindle and the gaskets and the wheel bearings/races (inner and outer) on the drivers side. Now when I took it apart the nuts that hold the spindle onto the kingpin all had some thread showing from the studs but now that I’ve got it all back together the top bolts have thread showing from the nut. In the pictures I’ve already torqued them down to 65 ft lbs (per the 1985 manual page 3C-31) and they are still like that. I’ve also included a picture of the passenger side which shows how it was before i took apart.
Above: My (wrong? Drivers side) Below: the untouched Passenger side.
