OK so I have installed 6.5 in round speakers in my doors but I was curious about the rears. I know there is the lil cubby in the corners u can put 6x9s in with a special box made to fit...buttt has anyone tried putting little 3.5" speakers or so up by ur head in that lil puller the seat belt shoulder strap bolts to? It seems like a good place for some...

the left speaker would be too close to your ear in comparison to the right. it'd be screaming in your left. honestly the only place id put speakers are in the dash, kickpanels, behind the seat or maybe the doors.

I did exactly that although i used
4" speakers. I would put them lower though not right by your ear. This idea came from the newer chevy trucks btw. I have a thread on here with pics just check.

Why tweeters over small speakers?

i have enough standard speakers, i want tweeters to hear the highs more from that angle.

Any suggestion on speaker placement besides the ones I've got in my doors?

They sound good, although where I put them is closer to the seatbelt bolt. I'm thinking I may move them about 6 inches lower so they aren't quite ear level and I don't go deaf. The newer trucks have them in that location, but there is more room behind the seat, so the speakers aren't RIGHT next to your ear.

I did this because I used to have 6x9 speakers behind the seats, and it wasn't very good sound and I couldn't really hear them too well. I got rid of the dash speakers because they sucked.... I love the 6" door speaker placement. Sounds pretty good.

Just be prepared to spend some money on a hole saw.... unless you want a hacked up looking hole. I used a 4" saw, and it made a perfect cut. I don't think my drill liked it very much though.... :upyours: haha

Yea I was thinking of putting as low as I could... I would think they would sound good there as long as they aren't tweets

i made a custom plate in put them in the cab corners of my truck and it sounds amazing i have no need for and more then other the three ones in the stock location of the dash. i think im gonna try it add a 8 inch sub under the ash tray to put all the bass through that instead of through the dash speakers and the 6x9s
