Where do you guys actually buy MLV?
It seems expensive to try and get from the box stores like home depot

Hey brother I was just teasing.
I understood what you were saying
And have heard/ read of people putting closed cell foam and some other insulator on the firewall for heat/ sound.
I’m no acoustics nut and certainly don’t measure vibrations by anything other than opinion.
And In my opinion ANYTHING is better than nothing
I wasn’t bothered, no worries. I don’t really get offended. Much to the chagrin of my wife, I’m devoid of feelings in general.

Online, but shipping is expensive due to weight. There is no cheap mlv that I have found

I friend of mine used Roadkill sound deadener everywhere in the cab of his '79 including the roof, doors, firewall, etc. He then laid the OEM style jute over it with carpet. It's one of the quietest squares I've been in.

I don't remember what it was, but its just like Dynamat and it comes in a 8-12" X 25' roll. You can find it at Lowe's or Home Depot in the insulation aisle. It costs around $12-15 a roll. It is an insulation barrier so it will quiet the cab down. My buddy used it on is Del Sol and it made an amazing difference in noise.

For comparison, currently I am just a tad better than most 2013-2015 economy cars on sound level. But still feels too loud.

I mentioned this above but probably flew over everyone's heads. I called it Blue Skin, maybe you don't have this particular produce in the US. But any butyl peel and stick roof guard, drip guard, frost guard type of product. Different brands and types available.... you want the thick stuff. Much much cheaper than auto sound mat.

There is also modified Bitumen which you want to stay away from. It smells strongly of tar, and heat keeps it soft and runny. It's also imo a fire hazard.
So stick with butyl. It has more of a plastic characteristic rather than tar, and doesn't smell like a new road.

Reflectix I believe..I used some in my vette to try to help with heat, I also sprayed the firewall and underside of the floor with Al's Heat and noise reducer.

I bought it from their site or Amazon not, wal mart but that is the same product. Plan is to spray this, put down insulation and then jute insulation.

Kilmat is like 80mil and 36 square feet for 55 bucks on amazon right now
The squares are a little small
They’re about a square foot each but the price is good

Thanks for all the suggestions everyone. When the carpet was installed Dynamat and padding was used. Inside of the doors will be next when the panels get back on.
I was thinking about using Dynamat on the firewall when I get under and do the re-wiring and heater work.
Most of the interior noise is from the motor and trans., as far as I can tell.
