There were a few different shades of red/maroon/burgundy used through the 80's. Pre-made seat covers are only available in a generic "ketchup red" type color. But the carpet is available in all kinds of colors through several restoration parts companies.

Just in case you were considering getting your seat re-upholstered, as opposed to putting a cover over it.

"I know a guy" (sorry) that can still get OEM cloth for 1986 seats. He just got me 2 yards of the stock charcoal material to recover my bench and back.

I don't know what he pays for it (the 2 yds), but he charges me $300. Also, he does the sewing for $350.

Here is a seat he did for me a couple of years ago.

It turns this:

I'll ask him where he gets his OEM cloth - if you're really interested.

Yeah, I'm really interested, but will he do the work or just sell the material?
Where a-bouts does he live?

I'm sure he would do either. Do you know your color/pattern designations?

Get those, and I'll ask him to check for P&A.

I'm sure he wouldn't mind setting it up so that the raw material can be sent directly to you. He might not even consider the source to be a secret - if I ask him, it's possible that he'll just give me the contact info. I honestly don't know - I've never broached the subject with him.

Let me check.

Got it. I'm writing it on a piece of paper - right now. Done.

I will try to see him tomorrow - or early next week.

Don't expect quick resolution on this. Billy is an excellent upholsterer, but business-wise...well, let's just say he's not exactly what you'd call a "dynamo". His workday generally ends when the VFW opens - at 1 PM.

I'll stay on him.

Oh yeah; using the numbers on the image below, please identify which panels are velour and which are vinyl:

Unless you tell me otherwise, I'll assume that the following panels are velour and all the others are vinyl:

T1 & T3
B1 & B3

You stand correct, I'm also thinking of changing the color to black,
Thinking about doing carpet in black also, rest of interior is the red.
Truck is also red with wide black stripe going down sides.
Just don't know if I want to incur the cost of changing the seat belts just yet, even though they are getting worn out.

Does the spending ever end?

Did you get your seatbelts from LMC also? Looking for some for an 86 k10 that I'm changing over to black. Thanks

We operate a small leather shop, and I'm thinking of redoing the seat in my 87 R30 in—wait for it—leather.
